lyf Bugis Singapore managed by The Ascott Ltd(previously Hotel Gin Bugis Singapore )

I’ve stayed at another Lyf property - One North - previously, so I expected the tiny room and general level of amenities. This property is better located. However the rooms here are not only tiny but poorly designed, making it impossible to get around without stepping over a suitcase. What was worse, however, was the cleanliness and feel of the room. Lyf only cleans the room every few days, which is fine, but after the room was “cleaned”, I returned to find an obvious blood stain right at the top of the sheets, in a way that was impossible to miss. The sink didn’t drain properly, taking upwards of 10 min to empty. The light switches, if pressed in the wrong order, turn off all the power in the room for a couple of minutes before switching back on. The WiFi is unreliable. When I was checking out and shared my unhappiness with the room, showing the bloodstain to the front desk staff, she acted unsurprised, apologized half heartedly, and said goodbye. Disappointing overall.

Drop off point is on 2nd floor, but check in counter (lobby) is on first floor, no clear signage indicating it to or staff to direct first timers. The reception staff wasn’t fully trained, didn’t even greet guest, instead showed a “why are you here” face when approached. Room was clean overall, but the shower door does not close fully, making water to leak out during shower, even if I did not aim the water at the shower door. There was no information card in the room, no phone to contact front desk and especially, there’s no hair dryer even though it says there is on the amenities page. Not the best experience for a hotel of this price and will not be coming back.

The staff is friendly, and there is easy access to public transport. The air conditioning was not working, so we reported the issue. Within two hours, the engineers fixed the problem.

While minimalist, it had everything I needed for a pleasant stay. Amenities: The facilities are excellent. The gym, co-working spaces, and laundry facilities are modern and well-maintained. I especially appreciated the communal kitchen, where guests could cook, dine, and meet other travelers. Service: The staff were friendly and approachable, always ready to help with recommendations or resolve any issues. Their enthusiasm added a personal touch to my stay. Value for Money: Considering its prime location, amenities, and overall experience, lyf Singapore offers great value. It’s especially suited for younger travelers or digital nomads looking for a blend of comfort and community. Final Thoughts: lyf Singapore stands out as more than just a hotel—it’s a lifestyle experience. Whether you’re staying for a short trip or an extended period, it provides a perfect balance of privacy, convenience, and social engagement. The location: very close to MRT Bencoolen, close to many minimarts, safe area not too busy not too quiet, Toast box is just opposite the hotel, in a walking distance for Fort canning and Singapore National Museum, I love the location! The hotel: very new, The A.C. is not clean enough but acceptable, the daily cleaning is not provided only every 3 days, in the toilet has shampoo, body wash, conditioner, Body towel and toilet paper. You can ask for shaver kit, tooth brush&tooth paste, slipper from the reception, has glasses and cups with water dispenser, The plug is universal socket. It has hair dryer in the room. I booked King room. I think it is nice for Singapore. The Hotel atmosphere is safe, it has hotel co-space for Coffee and tea, workspace. I didn’t try other facilities but seems so cool! The security is good, need to use the keycard to access Hotel area. On ground floor has cafe and bar. Not loud, very demure customers. My family feel impressed with the hotel and we might come back to stay again!

The hotel was situated in an amazing street near all the creative arts faculties for the University of Singapore. They have beautiful restaurants right next door; Wild Honey and The middle child. The hotel itself is beautiful and the staff is amazing.
