Great Service

Lovely friendly peaceful hotel with exceptional staff, what a credit they all are to you. Gardens and pools are beautiful and clean, as is the hotel and rooms. Immaculate. Lovely tasty breakfast lots of choice, personally I’d have liked some more fruit choice for the granola but that’s not major just a thought (just stayed b&b) rooms cleaned daily and fresh bedding everyday. We did think it was a bit of a squeeze in the room but we managed ok and I think a shelf in the bathroom would be a good addition. Eldest daughters’ bed would have been better as a proper single bed mattress and not a camp bed but she managed ok just said it was a bit hard / lumpy. Other than that, we would definitely return! Thank you all once again

Just back from Jersey after a four day break at the Westhill country Hotel for the second time !! The staff at the hotel could not have been more accommodating !! The rooms were spotlessly clean and serviced daily !! We had wonderful Breakfasts cooked to order and perfection with a large varied choice!! We also had a three course dinner served by the wonderful staff !! We had a large family group of grown up adults with Grand-kids varying in age from fifteen to ten years!! They had an amazing time in the pools and gardens and spent hours late into the night swimming and in the Jacuzzi !! The music at night by lovely Annette was fantastic And another singer also added a great touch to our stay. Thank you Annette and Lisa for your help re sorting out our booking requests etc !! Thanks to every one of the staff who made our stay soo memorable!!

This was our second visit to Westhill Country Hotel. Our first visit was in 2019 so there was no question where we would stay next time we were in Jersey. We had two rooms, one for me and my daughter and another for my 92 year old Mum. I booked very late, only a couple of weeks before travelling on the 19th August so we managed to book the last two rooms. The Hotel is absolutely lovely and we had a very warm welcome on check-in, in fact the lady on Reception recognised us from 5 years before. The rooms are very clean and spacious and both our rooms also had baths in our en-suites. The rooms are not super modern, the decor is very classic, what you would expect from a Country Hotel, but they are extremely clean and the chamber maids cleaned every day. The grounds are totally beautiful with not only palm trees and beautiful flowers, but a main pool, childrens pool, two jacuzzis and a pool bar. There were plenty of sun beds but also plenty of other seating including sofas around the grounds. We had breakfast included and this too was a treat. We are all non red meat eaters so there was a vegetarian breakfast on offer as well as eggs different ways but my Mum had pancakes & maple syrup each morning so she was very happy. There’s plenty of car parking if like me you have brought your car over or have a hire car. There was also entertainment in the evening, which we all enjoyed. We unfortunately missed the BBQ nights at the Hotel but hopefully can enjoy on our next visit. We ordered bar food one evening and ate outside on the lawn by the pool which was really nice. Evening meals are on offer but we did not eat in the restaurant during our stay. Highly recommend this Hotel and look forward to staying again very soon.

Worse place to visit. Lovely grounds and nice breakfast everything else a complete disgrace. If you want to go somewhere where a proportion of staff are rude and the manager takes no responsibility then this is the place for you. Room very outdated with ceiling tiles falling down. Bathroom has sliding wooden door which us very clunky and is opposite to the bed. The bed itself had rather large stains and also on wheels so moves when you sit down! Walls paper thin and haven't been constructed correctly so you can hear even a pin drop from the next room. Dead flies on the window sills and ledges outside of room. Restaurant manager who has been there for apparently 17 years is a rude condescending man who was extremely argumentative and ruined mine and my fiancee anniversary when we said that the meal was probably the worse we had. There was no apology at all but rather blame was put onto us as apparently everyone else liked it ... Or were people too afraid of the restaurant manager to say what they thought?? The restaurant manager after leaving our table decided to speak with the table behind basically slagging us off. Again if you want to go somewhere where a proportion of staff are rude and the manager takes no responsibility then this is the place for you. The restaurant manager apologised to myself and my fiancee the following morning but this was not sincere and i believe the owner orchestrated the apology. We asked reception on multiple times if we could speak to a manager and on every request we were advised that they were not in. Myself and partner complained once we got home as we were unable to do so whilst we were there due to the manager/owner not being on site. I managed to personally speak to the owner Jonathan Smale and i was shocked by the clear arrogance. Jonathan Smale decided to blame myself and my partner! He would not take any accountability at all and basically called us liars. It would appear that Jonathan Smale loves his existing clientele due to them being mostly of the age of 65+ whom with no disrespect will not want to fight back .

Terrible stay at this hotel. If had not been for some staff. Austin / Paul / Fred / Annette I would take further action. My job role is a Surveyor of Hotels / Restaurants / Public Houses. In UK mainland. This hotel caters in some respects for over 65' s . I say that in all sincerity. As its not unreasonable to say. Some guests are pulled into a false sense of happiness & standards. Depending on what you expect or used to in the hospitality industry. The hotel is dated. Unsafe electricical sockets in rooms. Years out of date. Compared to new Electrical sockets of today's high requirements. Terrible slow wifi no USB ports. Beds small old dirty springs pushing through from mattresses. Noisy loose flooring. Ceiling tiles falling down in room Bathrooms in need of repair/ updating. No cold water on occasion. Weak hollow partition walls so can hear all from room next to you.Dirty shelves in corridors dead flies also in lights. Bar downstairs redundant/ pool table broken . A white towel catches balls. Around pool table bicycles on charge & mobility scooters. Swimming Pool is nice however sign states no diving. Yet some people diving in . Yet only 2.2 Mt depth. Injury waiting to happen. Non residents coming in at weekends. Yet residents not told of times etc. Busy pool with children 2 yrs up wards. In hot tub. Yet sign states Adults only. At night in garden rats ran past us across grass. Outdated entertainment again. For over 65' s possibly. Breakfast is nice but have to agree with another writer. Staff seemed angry by their controlling Restaurant Manager. Who seems to havd a go at them. Pictures cannot lie / videos. Restaurant Manager Who is condescending/ rude / disrespectful. Dinner was a sham. Again can't sit where you would like. Even if tables are spare. Made a factual complaint about meal. Made to feel at fault. By owner himself calling my fiancee. Basically blaming us. Meal was not good. Other guests we spoke to stated Restaurant Manager controlling. Owner says been there 17yrs this says it all. All in denile set in their ways. I am told by people in industry in uk. Hotel set to close to be bulldozed for houses on land . Will not return. Disgraceful. Especially when Restaurant Manager. Speaks about us to other guests in dining room. Of which I challenged him on. To which in Breakfast the next morning he apologised. Yet again Mr Jonathan Smales is still not taking responsibility. There is a saying in hospitality. " Treat every guest as a mystery guest. I would avoid this hotel if under 65 I liken it to an old Butlins environment trapped in time & not a good one.. I feel sorry for some staff there. Will never return.

Stayed here last year and had great time and great weather so came back this year...same again. Staff really friendly, food good ,bbq thurs night and weekends,relaxing beautiful grounds,morning shuttle bus into St Helier uo to 3 times,easy to get around island,loads of places to visit.

Defew’s summer 2024 holiday was amazing, with great weather, nothing was any trouble for the staff, who made our stay one of the best. Hopefully see you all in 2025, thanks again for everything. Loved the early morning swims and the entertainment during the evenings was great 🫶☀️

Just got back from an Amazing stay at Westhill country hotel. From the first contact with the hotel Annette was so helpful sorting our room out and when we got there and actually met her she was so lovely and friendly and the children said so too. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff, the reception, restaurant and bar staff were all so friendly and helpful. I had medicine for my son that had to be kept in the fridge and this was no problem. Everyone made you feel so welcome and I really enjoyed relaxing by the beautiful pool and gardens. Our room was spotless clean and comfortable for all 3 of us. The shuttle bus to town in a morning was so useful and driven by Jonathan who is the owner and you can see he enjoyed interacting with the guests. The hotel had a lovely welcoming ambience with a sense of whole team effort from the owners and staff which can be seen and felt. There is lots of helpful info too on tours, things to do and buses etc. My children also enjoyed it and loved going in the pool. The evening entertainment was great and one night a fabulous guitarist and singer was on who was brilliant. All in all a fabulous stay, I’m so glad I chose it and only problem was it went too quick and we didn’t want to come home. There were grumpy faces on all 3 of us at Jersey airport Monday morning!
