PPengguna Tanpa NamaWe booked two rooms for 7 nights at the Sheraton Cebu Mactan. We are two families traveling together with three young children and a pregnant wife. We were excited for a relaxing vacation, but after just 4 days, we wanted to check out early.
The hotel agreed to refund only one room (around 900–1000 USD), but refused to refund the second room. This decision was made even though the hotel is completely full (Chinese New Year, peak season). Our rooms could have been sold to other guests immediately, so there was no financial risk to the hotel.
Why We Wanted to Leave Early:
1. Food Issues (Very Important for Muslim Families)
The hotel is in an isolated location with no restaurants nearby. The on-site restaurants serve mostly spicy Asian food, often containing pork. As Muslim families with young children, we cannot eat spicy food or pork. This made every meal a struggle.
2. Transportation (A Nightmare)
Getting a taxi is extremely difficult.
· When we wanted to leave the hotel to go to the city, we often waited over an hour for a taxi.
· When we tried to return to the hotel from the city (like Cebu), we waited up to 2 hours because drivers refuse to come to this hotel.
· Even within the Mactan area, finding a taxi was not easy.
· The hotel offers a transfer service, but it costs 2–3 times more than a regular taxi. For a family, this is not a practical solution.
3. Maintenance Issues
On the very first day, we reported that the sink was clogged – water drained very slowly. We were promised it would be fixed. After 3 days, nothing had been done.
On day 3, I personally told the General Manager, Mr. Robin Bernard, about the problem. He said: ”No problem, I will solve it.”
But even after his promise, nothing happened.
Finally, on day 4, housekeeping came to our room. We showed them the problem by running the water. They saw it immediately and called an engineer, who fixed it within 20 minutes.
Mr. Bernard's promise meant nothing. The regular staff fixed it.
Our Conversation with Management
We requested an early checkout. Mr. Ross Bautista genuinely tried to help us. He suggested a possible refund for one room and arranged a meeting with his superior to discuss our case.
That meeting was with General Manager Robin Bernard. Here is what happened:
· He claimed he ”knew the situation”, but could not explain any details. We had to tell him everything again: about the children, the pregnant wife, the food, the transportation.
· Throughout the conversation, he was arrogant and condescending. It felt like he was not listening, just waiting for us to finish.
· We explained that the hotel was fully booked (Chinese New Year, peak season), so letting us leave early would not hurt his business. The rooms would be sold again immediately.
· His response was shocking. He looked at us and said, word for word:
”You should not think about my business. It's my concern.”
Then, one minute later, when we asked for understanding, he said:
”I have to think about my business.”
There is no logic. It felt like he just wanted to show his power and punish us for asking.
The result? Nothing changed. Ross Bautista tried, but his hands were tied. Robin Bernard simply confirmed his original decision and showed zero empathy.
As long as Mr. Robin Bernard is the General Manager, we will never return to this hotel. His arrogance, empty promises, and complete lack of care for families with children and special dietary needs are destroying the reputation of this Sheraton.
To other Muslim families or anyone traveling with young children: I strongly recommend choosing a different hotel. Here, your needs will be ignored if the manager does not feel like helping.

NNat ShanghaiWe had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. What makes it truly special is its unique location: set on a small island just 10 minutes by boat from the mainland, it genuinely feels like being alone in the world. The setting is peaceful, charming, and beautifully secluded.
The pool is lovely, the small beach is very enjoyable, and above all, the kindness of the staff is exceptional. The team is attentive, warm, and truly contributes to the overall experience.
On the downside, because the island is quite isolated, dining options are limited to the hotel’s restaurant unless you take the boat back to the mainland. This makes both the room rates (even though the view is beautiful) and the food prices feel somewhat high.
We were a family of five, added an extra bed, and requested early check-in, which significantly increased the final bill for our two-night stay. The total cost ended up being quite substantial.
That said, we still had a wonderful time and keep very fond memories of our stay. It is a beautiful and special place overall.

PPengguna TetamuStayed for 2night. 8th floor city view and the room was so awesome!! My son enjoyed a lots swimming in the lazy river everyday. And the breakfast buffet we went to Garo which also has a buffet and It’s more relaxing and less people then the buffet restaurant in 1st floor. When we went to the buffet restaurant in 1st floors at 8am there were already a long queue and inside looked like very packed. So I recommend going to have a buffet in Garo if you prefer more relaxing.

Safe, fun, and peaceful a rare combo! 💙Plantation Bay is pure paradise. The lagoons, the white sand, and the staff made it unforgettable. Already planning to come back.

ИИгорь А.Хорошая 5ка с большим бассейном, собственной конюшней, фермой, небольшим зоопарком, прекрасным фитнес залом, большим бассейном и треком с квадроциклами, завтрак - шведский стол, не очень разнообразный, но все необходимое есть, достаточно скромно, но вкусно. Персонал вежливый, приветливый и гостеприимный. Цены в ресторане и на услуги SPA максимально демократичные (для 5* отеля). Есть как здание с номерами, так и отдельные виллы с собственными бассейнами. Вилла отличная, просторная, с огромной кроватью, ванной комнатой, множеством окон, достаточно большим (для личного) бассейном и прекрасным видом на море.
Береговая линия в наш визит была вся в мусоре, что полностью исключало желание купаться в море (благо, был личный бассейн на вилле, а так же большой общий бассейн отеля), так же территория вся была засыпана листьями от фикусов, которых на территории достаточно много, сделаю предположение, что связано это было с недавними тайфунами, к берегу принесло много водорослей, веток и мусора с моря. Персонал отеля активно занимался уборкой весь период нашего пребывания в отеле. В целом, территория отеля ухоженная, симпатичная, газоны подстрижены, деревья ухожены, а территория, на минуточку, очень большая, что требует большого количества персонала на ее поддержание.

NNat ShanghaiThis hotel is very convenient, located only about 20 minutes from the airport, which makes it perfect before a flight. It is a large property, yet it remains surprisingly peaceful. The staff are truly lovely and welcoming.
The rooms are very comfortable and well-equipped with everything you might need. The food is excellent, especially the breakfast, which offers a great selection.
We spent a fun evening at the Sports Bar — my children really enjoyed all the activities available. The only downside, in my opinion, was that the prices there were quite high.
Aside from that, the view from the pool is stunning, and there is a pleasant small beach to enjoy. We had a wonderful stay before catching our flight.

SShubham PrakashThis turned out to be an incredible choice for our family; Though it is a refurbished property, the rooms' size is very good. The beach was nice and the most astonishing thing for us was the small rock formation near its beach, which hosted an incredible variety of fish and other forms of life. Just a pair of swimming googles or the snorkeling rental equipment here could get one ready in a matter of minutes from your room. The breakfast spread was good and the 'chocolate hour' in the afternoon was a hit amongst all kids and adults.
