The hotel is just a few minutes from the Philharmonie U-Bahn station or just a 15 minute walk from the main station and hence very nicely located. The staff are very professional and gave me a good welcome. The room was very well-kept and for the price, a good size. Excellent WiFi coverage at good connectivity speeds. Overall, a very nice stay in a very nice hotel.

To my opinion, this is not a four star hotel. The hotel is big, however, aged, and in certain areas in need of modernization. The hotel is equipped with a swimming pool, however, on picture, it provides a bigger impression than the actual size which is quite small . Hotel reception staff are nice and friendly The room is very small, the bed is comfortable. There is a small fridge. The biggest appointment is the bathroom area, which is very old and in need of modernization. For the price paid, it was an unsatisfactory stay

This new hotel is centrally located in Essen (which is actually located in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, not in Lower Saxony). It is situated close to the main railway station, shopping and restaurants. Parking is shared with the Moxy Hotel and available at EUR 15. The hotel is modern and has a large lobby area with comfy seating, part of which also serves as breakfast area. Our standard suite was spacious and clean and faced the courtyard, making it quiet and nice. Check-in was not up to usual Mariott standards, and we ended up in a smaller room than the corner suite, we had booked. However, we decided to stay in the standard suite, which turned out to be quieter, as it did not face the street. During our stay wifi was only available in the lobby area, which was really annoying. At check-out we were reimbursed by not having to pay for the parking. The breakfast was good without being great. The hotel is good, but the service we had did not meet usual Marriott standards.

PPengguna TetamuIch bin eine gebürtige Essenerin und kenne deshalb das Hotel schon ewig. Die Lage ist zentral, gegenüber vom Hauptbahnhof und mitten in der Stadt. Die Zimmer sind je nach Kategorie geräumig. Ich finde es toll, das man die Fenster öffnen kann. Auch die Betten sind bequem. Frühstück gegen Aufpreis, dort gibt es allerdings Verbesserungspotential. Trotzdem 100% Empfehlung

PPengguna TetamuHad a great stay in Moxy Essen from 11/06/2023 – 14/06/2023. I was travelling around the Rhine Ruhr region with my friend (and we both have Marriott Gold elite status from staying in a Marriott for university). This hotel was in a great location right next to the HBF station in Essen and was clean and modern. The bar had a good vibe and we had free drinks on arrival. We used points for this stay, and the way that the points worked out meant that we had 2 different bookings over 3 nights, but this was not an issue and we managed to get the same room for the duration of our stay (we even got a bonus welcome drink for it)! I’m probably not going to do the hotel justice here, but it was a well laid out and stylish hotel with decent sized rooms. We had a twin room to share and the staff made extra effort so that we were on the quieter side of the building. We initially checked into the hotel at approximately 2pm, but decided to spend the afternoon in Wuppertal. When we arrived back on the first night. I had a shower, and there was no shampoo. No big deal, but I ended up going down to reception to ask for some. The man couldn’t find any shampoo, but about half an hour later, some appeared, I think he probably brought I from the shop as it wasn’t in the normal bright pink Moxy bottle, but it was really nice of him to make the effort. That day, the weather hit 32 degrees and whilst we were waiting for the shampoo, we tried to work out how the air conditioning worked. Between me and my friend that I was travelling with, we couldn’t work it out, so we asked the employee. However, between the 3 of us and Google we could not work it out. Anyway, I think we were the only people in the hotel that night as this was approximately midnight local time, and I think we went in every room in the corridor. To try and find one with working air con. All of them were empty! We eventually found one that wasn’t like a sauna and packed our stuff and moved. The employee was genuinely the nicest and most helpful employee I think I have ever seen in a hotel, very apologetic, but also very sociable. It was really nice to meet him as he was so happy to help. Unfortunately I didn’t get his name, but he had a ponytail I think and said he was Turkish. I think he will know who we are when he reads this! I saw him off duty in the bar the next night and thanked him. We even got 2 free breakfasts out of this!! The breakfast was good, though probably not worth the price we were told when we booked (I think it was about 15 euros but can’t remember as I have stayed in about 5 hotels in the past week and they have all rolled into one a bit). There was a few cooked items (Bacon & Scrambled Egg) and a few cold/ cereal items, but not loads. I probably wouldn’t recommend getting breakfast as all the Moxys allow a free coffee/ juice in the morning and a pastry, which is a nice touch. MmichaelDie Zimmer sind gut eingerichtet auch mal etwas weg vom typischen Zimmer. Mein Zimmer hatte separate WC und Dusche, sehr angenehm. kleines Manco , ein vergessener Gegendstand 4 Stunden nach dem CA, war angeblich nicht im Zimmer auffindbar, was schade ist. So klein war er nicht. Betten auch sehr bequem, alles in allem sehrvgutes Hotel.

PPengguna TetamuDas Hotel liegt in einem Komplex mit karitativen Einrichtungen, recht nahe zur A40. Mein Zimmer war sehr ordentlich, sauber und angemessen groß, dito das Bad. Auf dem Zimmer findet sich ein Wasserkocher und eine Klimaanlage, leider aber kein kleiner Kühlschrank/Minibar. Parkplatz ist vorhanden, kostet auf dem Hotelparkplatz 15,-/Nacht. Das Frühstück ist sehr gut. WLAN hatte einen Tag mal etwas schlechte Laune, funktionierte aber sonst gut. Besonders positiv empfand ich die ausgesprochen freundlichen und hilfsbereiten Mitarbeiter*innen.

PPengguna TetamuIch kann nur sagen: eine ganz schlimme Erfahrung. Dass das Hotel in die Jahre gekommen ist und den Esprit eines 1980er Hauses versprüht, ist ja schon schlimm. Dass es laut ist und die vermutlich aus den 1970er stammende Klimaanlage nicht funktioniert, ist dann wohl auch nur noch konsequent. Richtig bedauerlich ist allerdings das Verhalten der Mitarbeiterinnen beim checkin und checkout. Kann sein, dass die Damen nicht anständig bezahlt werden, aber dann wäre ein anderer Arbeitsplatz sicher besser, als den eigenen Frust an Kunden „auszuleben“. Auch hat man deutlich gemerkt, dass es sich nicht um ausgebildete Kräfte gehandelt haben kann, da man ihnen als Gast quasi alles erläutern musste. Ich werde auf gar keinen Fall einem solchen Hotel und solchen Mitarbeiterinnen noch einmal gutes Geld hinterherwerfen. Das einzig positive, um das nicht zu vergessen, war die relativ zentrale Lage. Das war es dann aber leider auch…

Wow. What a trip that was to the Essen Spiel convention. And what an excellent hotel we have had the luck of booking a room into. Everything was top notch. We were given a room on the second floor, right across the elevator, in room 226. That was indeed super convenient, since for soundproofing, the windows were always shut, and I'm a smoker, so it made my outside trip to the smoking area easy. Everything in the room was where it should be. Plenty of sockets to plug our electronics in, a desk to put our convention stuff on and make our plans for the following day. Water pressure was spot on in the shower, all-in-one soap was naturally provided in a dispenser and filled daily. Room cleaning was done super meticulously in the morning and the cleaning people were nice and attentive when we happened to stumble upon them. All the staff we ran across were super nice and kind, even though we were always bugging them with annoying and trivial matters. The evening shift at the bar and reception really tried their best to satisfy our bothering demands. Hats off to them for putting up with us. I feel that we may have indeed tested their patience's limits. Despite all our best - or worst - but unintended in honesty - efforts to piss them off, they didn't even lose their smile. Great job, everyone! The cherry on top was the hotel's decision to open up a big room full of tables and chairs for the Spiel attendees to pass the night once the exhibition day was over. Really thoughtful and it's one of those small details that win people over. I'm looking forward to returning to the convention next year, and I'm sure I will be booking a room in this hotel alongside my plane and convention tickets. Keep it up, GHOTEL!
