Set amid a beautiful landscape in Okuhida Onsengo hot-spring area, Yamazatonoiori Soene offers beautiful rooms in a Japanese style with river or garden views. The property is 80-munite bus ride from JR Takayama Station, and Fukuchi Yurimizaka (HO41) bus stop is a 3-minute walk away.
Providing a peaceful escape from the city, Mountain Village Iori Soen's rooms are equipped with a flat-screen TV and refrigerator. All rooms have access to a shared bathroom, while some rooms also come with a private toilet. Slippers and Yukata robes are provided. Some rooms have Japanese-style bedding on a tatami (woven-straw) floor, while others have Western-style beds.
A set menu for breakfast is provided and Kaiseki (traditional multi-course meals) is available, but will need to be reserved 3 days in advance.
Guests can relax in the indoor and outdoor baths with its natural hot spring water. Kashikiri (private baths) are also available and can be reserved for free.
It is a 15-minute drive to Shin Hodaka Ropeway and a 30-minute drive to Kamikochi area. Mount Norikura is a 60-minute drive from the property.

Oh, what a joy this place was, after a few days in busy Tokyo! We stayed at Soene for two nights and enjoyed every minute of it. Okushida Onsen is a very small ”town” so it goes without saying that Soene is in an isolated spot. It sits on a river, and some of the onsens overlook the river. There are several different onsens, including private ones that you can use on a first come basis. The onsen bathing is only part of the experience though. The rooms are Japanese style, which was a new experience for us. Both breakfast and dinner are traditional Japanese (Kanseki) meals, and were in as of themselves an experience we will not forget. In all of its beauty it needs to be noted that the ryokan is in need of a bit of an update. It's not something I saw at first, but as you finally have taken in the general beauty of the place and of the hotel I noticed things such as the carpet fraying in some places. This is nothing major, and I would happily go back to the hotel for another stay!

重要的事情先説：到這家酒店一定要在H041下車，就在酒店門口停車，不要在福地温泉站下車，那樣還有點遠！
下車後有一條長廊，一直走進去才能看到大堂，如果有大行李，可以先走到大堂讓服務人員幫忙拿。
長廊盡頭有熱熱的迎賓米酒，非常好喝。
房間非常好，早餐晚餐都很好！
温泉一流的好，大浴場很大，私湯居然同時有室內室外，還能洗澡，不用預約不用花錢。
走出酒店還有很多温泉也非常好，大雪天也不用擔心冷，酒店給準備了棉外套和棉雨鞋，建議都去泡泡。
特別感謝酒店前台的服務女士，真的太好了！我們去酒店太早，下午3點才能辦理入住，服務人員貼心地告訴我們先去泡泡外面的足湯，因為下雪天氣冷，服務員居然讓我們2點就入住了！太感動了！第二天我們要去另一家酒店，但時間太早，我們花錢延遲退房了，服務員還熱心開車把我們送到了那家酒店，感動得眼淚都流出來了！
酒店名就叫湯元長座，不知道攜程怎麼翻譯的，搞得差點錯過！
第一次這麼大篇幅地點評一家酒店，主要是真的好！再加上訂之前看了其他人分享的訊息對我們幫助很大，在此感謝分享訊息的朋友，也希望能幫助到有需要的人。

Ryokan typique avec tatamis, futons et panneaux de papier. Vraiment dépaysant! Les bains onsen (eau provenant de source volcanique) sont offerts en mode public ( pas essayé), privés extérieurs ou intérieurs, ou privés en chambre. Étant prudes et en famille, nous avons pris chambre avec bains privés et sur utilisés les bains privés extérieurs ( génial!). Bouffe hors du commun, avec soupers délicieux et petits- déjeuners déstabilisants japonais. Belle expérience!

This was a welcome visit, it was part of our package that we bought when we were visiting Shinhotaka Ropeway, on our return the bus dropped us off at the bus stop and we got to spend an hour at this onsen. Ever since I have visited Japan I’ve always wanted to sit in one of their onsens during winter and this time zi got my chance, fair to say that it was probably about 0 degrees if not less but the water in the onsen was about 40 degrees, it was so beautiful sitting in the onsen with snow all around us, if you get the chance please stop here for a soak.

Location is convenient and overall service is good but there are better choices around definitely. Dinner and breakfast spread quite limited. Nice view of the garden but on 2 occasions the elderly Japanese just ignored the reserved tag I placed on the table and took my seats… suggest to place a more visible belongings to reserve it. Western room is adequate 18sqm. Poor noise cancellation as noise echos 20m down the hallways, metal room doors slamming, chairs dragging and phone vibrates in the next room can be heard. Not recommended if you’re a light or early sleeper, especially guests moving in/out along the corridors to take onsen bath. The hotel also hosts tour groups. Witnessed a tour group of Europeans. Koreans speaking on phone at hallways…etc.

It's always important to take price into account when reviewing a place. I have read other reviews of Nakamurakan that have criticised the dated decor, the shabby ensuite bathrooms and even the quality of the Hida beef. In isolation all these things are true, but you have to look at overall value. We paid just under $150 Australian per person per night for a room, two meals a day, and the option of booking a private outdoor hot spring bath - we had no problem getting a booking for the private pools when we were there. At the Peninsula Hot Springs near where we live in Australia you will pay over $100 just to get a private pool for half a hour. At Nakamurakan it's included. Yes, the decor is dated, but the rooms are clean and comfortable enough. The ensuite bathrooms are shabby, but it's an onsen, so you're not going to use them anyway. As for the food, maybe the beef isn't the highest quality, but it's still pretty good, and in Australia you'd pay $100 a head for a dinner like the ones we had. The breakfasts were good too. We found the staff very pleasant and helpful, but we speak Japanese, so we have no idea whether the staff speak English. The location is convenient for the bus terminal, and there is a coin laundry round the corner. In conclusion Nakamurakan isn't the latest and greatest ryokan, but it does give you a lot for the mo ey.

Hiratakan, located @ Hirayu Onsen we experienced the best ryokan. The check-in process was smooth. The room was super clean with great amenities. Hirataken is located 200 meter from the bus stand to Kamikochi. We were hiking Mt Hotakadake the next morning and the gentleman very kindly asked us to park our car at the hotel. We explored Hirayu in the evening and it was beautiful with free public onsens everywhere. In fact there is one onsen right opposite to Hirataken and we dipped our tired feet the next day after we finished our Mt Hotaka hike and it was so relaxing. We loved our stay at Hirataken and would definitely recommend it to other travelers.

Hodakaso Yamano Hotel Old and well maintained hotel tucked in the mountains. Exudes an old world charm where you forget the hustle and bustle of urban life. Welcoming service upon arrival where the concierge comes running to unload your luggages. The room was basically comfortable with no frills. The attraction of this hotel was in the many pockets of activity to enthuse with. There was a cosy foot bath tucked in one corner on your way to the elevator. The highlight was a lovely all natural outdoor onsen 5 min walk from the hotel - owned by the hotel - opens from 5 am to 11 pm. The only access to the outdoor onsen was to take a 1-min slope lift down the steep slope. They were changing rooms but no bathing facilities at this outdoor onsen. The experience here was truly magical, soaking in the Hotspring, surrounded by natural forest and mountains, while watching the sunset. The onsen bath within the hotel was small and simple. The food served for dinner was acceptable. Breakfast was decent too. On the whole, the experience was quite magical.

車で到着した時からチェックイン時も、ウエルカムなホスピタリティーを感じました。 ロビーラウンジでは、コーヒーサービスがありました。 部屋はお任せ部屋プランで、和室の８畳&広縁でした。 宿ではほぼ椅子がある広縁で過ごすつれあいは、駐車場に面して窓が小さく、天井が斜めで、敷居に頭がぶつかる広縁だったので、この部屋は訳ありかもと言ってました。 和室は普通で、部屋では鍵も二本、Wi-Fiも使えました。浴衣は女性は色浴衣が選べます。冷水も電気ポットもあります。 お風呂は、ニ種類の源泉で、硫黄泉と単純泉の露天風呂があり、露天風呂は2つと樽風呂が2つありました。露天風呂の単純泉の方からは穂高の山々が望めました。 内湯は硫黄泉です。湯の花が沈んでいます。 とても良い温泉で露天風呂も広く、感激しました。 脱衣場洗面エリアには、アメニティーが揃ってます。 夕食は大広間でテーブル間のスペースも十分でした。 穂高会席は満足しました。 特に飛騨牛乳と飛騨モッツァレラの冷やし茶碗蒸しと、飛騨牛の陶板焼きが特に美味しかったです。 またデザート(チーズケーキ、キャラメルプリンも美味で、飛騨メロンとパインは甘熟でした。 日本酒は始めに地酒の冷酒一合を頼んでましたが、後で地酒冷酒一合が３本で現在割引中の2000円があったのを後から気づき、３本セットにしてもらいました。地酒３種、それぞれの味わいの違いを楽しみました。 お食事係の方は感じよく、チャッカマンもテーブルに置いていってくれたので、好きな時にお肉か焼けて良かったです。 朝食も同じ会場でした。若い方だとボリュームが無いかもしれませんが、熟年の我らには良い量でした。コーヒーと紅茶サービスもあります。 穂高のロープウェイの真ん前にあるホテルです。 温泉も食事も接客も良いホテルに泊まる事ができ、遠くまで来て良かったと思いました。

PPengguna TetamuWe were lucky to stay at Mercure Takayami on their opening night. Everything about the hotel was above our expectations. Rooms were a very comfortable with attention to detail. Having USB and USB C charging ports for our electronics next to the bed was very convenient and meant we didn't need to search for our Japan power adaptors. This hotel has been well designed with a focus on local traditional carpentry and joinery skills. When you book this hotel make sure you book a room that includes access to the private Onsen. We had an open-air experience while we watched the snow from our private onsen. Breakfast had an extensive range of Tradition Hida dishes and Western choices, with different options available each day. This was a great way to try Hida Beef Curry and Hida chicken cooked on a traditional grill. Staff were very helpful going above and beyond with their dedicated and personal service, even searching the internet for me to find a store that sold Yama Cola. We will be back to stay again and will try to stay longer next time.

PPengguna TetamuExtremely well located if you want to be right next to the train station and bus station - my room overlooked the tracks. Provision of washing machine and dryer is a superb bonus inroom as are the full cooking facilities. The hotel intelligently provides basics such as oil, salt, coffee, tea and even a couple of detergent sachets for the washing. Strangelt though, no knives or other cutting implements of any kind. A tip if you intent to cook. The Family Mart opposite is basic, but there is a huge supermarket under the tracks and just beyond MacDonalds where you can get international food as well as Japanese. Slightly dreary corridors and a reception crowded with people waiting for their room to become available. But on the plus side they let me into my room early as I was unwell at the time.

Patut dipuji ialah rumah mandian air panas di tingkat sembilan (satu untuk lelaki dan satu untuk lelaki). Mata air panas dibahagikan kepada mata air panas, mata air panas sejuk dan mata air panas separa terbuka. Berendam di mata air panas dan hilangkan keletihan dari perjalanan yang jauh!

An excellent ryokan. Extremely high level of customer service and extras, such as a choice of yukata to wear during your stay and choice of aroma oil to perfume your room at night. The room we had was superb, pristine with high value toiletries. Everything about this hotel is delightful and although it is pricey, it feels worth it. At all times you feel valued as a guest. The onsen are nice - especially the outside one - and if you’re lucky enough to stay for more than one day it’ll be empty at about 3pm (check-in time) and you’ll get it to yourself like I did 😀. A tiny little ****** was the fact that we didn’t book breakfast at the time of booking and sent an email later requesting breakfast on our two night stay. The hotel wrote back saying we could have breakfast both days, but there was a mix up and they could only fit us in for one day. This was disappointing especially once we saw the breakfast. It is superb and possibly the best Japanese breakfast I’ve had. Make sure you book it if not included. It is an extra 2000 yen, but worth it.

🇯🇵The room size is bigger than expected, with a small table and two chairs. The room provides a great street view too!

Also there is a small kitchen and microwave in room so that we can cook simple food like noodles and heat up the instant food we bought. No need to eat outside. Room is comfort, and the TV is smart TV which we can watch netflix or youtube. We definitely had great time there. Moreover, the location is good, only few steps away from train station and historical street. Highly recommended

CChang Seng JustinThis hotel is centrally located, just next to the Mercure. You leave your shoes in a locker and walk along the common areas barefooted or wearing socks. It's quite a hassle putting on shoes in the reception area to leave the hotel. The drawback of this system is that some guests remove the shoe cabinet keys when they check out. There's a pair of sandals in the room which you wear when you go to the toilet. This is different from other hotels in Japan where you can wear the sandals around the hotel. The onsen area is certainly superior. Photo is the view from my room.

DDonovan_lThis is a popular hotel in Takayama, welcoming many domestic and foreign visitors. There is ample parking space, but you have to pay ¥800 for parking overnight. The breakfast buffet can be added on for ¥1000 per person. The staff at front desk spoke good English. There was a welcome drink coupon which you could use it for beer or a soft drink at the bar, which is totally self-service.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable, comes with a shower and nice equipment. The onsen is located on the top floor, and for the private onsen it is on a first come first serve basis, you just need to lock it and enjoy the facility. It is family friendly, and visitors can help themselves to a popsicle after having a bath. Amenities such as combs, soap, shampoo, bath robes are provided, you can take it at the lobby.

TThumbelina2It's my fault for not upgrading to a superior room because the standard rooms are very small. That said, it was well designed and used every available bit of space. The small double bed was pushed against the wall so not ideal for 2 people. Luckily the corridor/space beside the bathroom was quite wide so I was just able to open my large suitcase. There was a nice light duvet on the bed and hard/seed pillows. The bathroom was compact but allowed for a deepish bath. The air conditioning was powerful. There was a TV but there were no English tv channels. There was a small armchair to sit in and a table, a desk/dressing table, a stool and various ledges to put stuff on. There was no in room safe. The breakfast was ok. Self service with cereal and rolls as well as a lot of Japanese choices. My room was on the ground floor and there was parking outside. The hotel provided a shuttle to get to the town centre which was convenient but allow enough time to find the bus stop for the return. I very nearly missed it because I couldn't make sense of the map provided (you had to go inside the train station and up and over the railway tracks to get to the right bus stop!). It was perfectly adequate for one night but if I was to return I'd chose a hotel in the centre of town so that restaurants and shopping/sightseeing is easier to get to.

PPengguna Tetamu宿のパンフレットにある言葉、「はるか、遠い昔にであったような」。そんな時間が流れているお宿です。「鄙の湯」の鄙は鄙びたのひなです。 部屋は広く12畳位でベッドやテーブル椅子セットがありました。また広縁と部屋を囲む縁側がありました。 またトイレには男性用の立ちトイレもあり、宿に男性用トイレがあるのは珍しいよねと話しました。後から聞くと、この部屋のみ男子用かあるとの事です。 冷房を切っても外からいい風が入ってきて、ヒグラシが鳴いているのが聞こえ、風呂上がりには二人とも昼寝してしまいました。 温泉はほんのりと硫黄の匂いがしました。内湯が熱湯で、露天風呂がぬる湯で、今の暑い時期、とても快適でした。源泉かけ流しの良い温泉です。 お風呂には化粧水などは置いて無いので、お部屋に用意してもらっているアメニティセットをお持ちになった方が良いです。 お風呂の近くに休憩処があります。冷たいお茶を飲んでいると網戸越しに外から涼しい風が入ってきて「夕涼みだなぁ。」と以前の夏が懐かしくなりました。今はどこも暑すぎです。夏の高原宿は涼しくていいですね。 お休み処では、穂高や槍ヶ岳などのビデオをテレビで流しており、ゆったり冷たい物を飲みながら、見ました。 夕食ですが、違う部屋の個室に用意してくれました。 ひな盛りは色どり鮮やかでいろんな種類の夏の旬の野菜が沢山の前菜でした。お造りは岩魚と地元サーモン、焼き物は鮎の姿焼き、陶板焼きの一口ステーキは飛騨牛でした。ご飯はそのまま食べるわっぱ飯とユニークでした。地酒は地酒一合が660円で、お料理に良く合いました。 朝食も個室にていたたんきました。フグの一夜干しやお豆腐が美味しく、焼いた朴葉みそでご飯をおかわりしてしまいました。 食後はフロントエリアのラウンジで、コーヒーをいただきました。コーヒーカップはカップウォーマーに入っており、熱々のコーヒーが好きな私には、気遣いを感じました。特に冬などはせっかくのコーヒーサービスもカップが冷たくなっててコーヒーもぬるくなってしまうからです。 ラウンジでは、心地良いクラッシック音楽がかかっていてリラックスしました。 精算時がキャッシュオンリーな事だけか、キャッシュレス派なので、残念な点です。 もの静かな女将とご主人様が宿のコンセプトをしっかり持っておられると感じられました。14時イン11時アウトでいい温泉に4回も入り、本当にくつろげた滞在となりました。
