Just got back from a two night stay at the Charterhouse. Lisa our host was lovely and couldn't do enough for me and my wife. Our room was on the small side but had everything you could want. Exceptionally clean with comfy bed, nice shower and a good choice for breakfast. On the first morning I had smoked salmon with scrambled eggs and brown toast, tea and orange juice. On the second morning I had a fab full breakfast with tea, orange juice and toast. Excellent value for money. If you decide to stay here don't miss a visit to Charterhouse Village which is a short stroll up the lane. Absolutely delightful place. Thatched cottages and a 1,000 year old church. Plus a good pub serving great food. We wish Lisa served an evening meal as it would have saved us from having to go out looking for somewhere close to eat.

This was an excellent experience for our weekend away. Near the seafront with great views from our room, we were given a warm welcome, the cleanliness was exceptional and the breakfast magnificent. The room was lovely and warm and overall this is highly recommended for a great stay.

Well, we had a lovely 2 day break at the Charterhouse and would highly recommend. The comfort of the room and the breakfast is fantastic along with the hospitality. So near to the promenade and with a car park everything is catered for. Hope to return next year.

This is a fantastic hotel. The rooms are great and very comfortable. The breakfasts are superb, with local produce and prepared to a very high standard. Lisa, your host, is fabulous and nothing is too much trouble. Only about a two minute walk to the beach and about 15 minutes from Torquay harbour where you'll find restaurants and shops. Lots of other things to do close by as well. I would highly recommend a stay at this hotel and will hopefully return soon.

We had a two night stay at the Charterhouse. We were warmly welcomed by the joint owner Lisa who made us feel at home right away. We had a small suite on the top floor comprising bedroom, lounge and large bathroom. It was warm, comfortable and spotless, fitted out in a modern style with everything you'd need. The dining room was bright and spacious. There was a wide choice of breakfasts beautifully prepared and cooked by the chef Christophe. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for Lisa who looked after us so well. We couldn't fault the Charterhouse for comfort, food and value. It is located in a secluded road just away from the main seafront. There was ample space in their own car park. We would certainly recommend the Charterhouse!

Went for a couple of days Oct 2024, what a beautiful place, we had a garden room as we had r furry friend with us, she really enjoyed her holiday. The room had tea making facility, fridge which was topped up every day, the bathroom was beautiful and the towels was so soft and changed regularly, the room was clean as was the bedding and the bed was really comfy. Breakfast was delicious with plenty to choose from and lovely local food.

Lisa & Christophe are warm & welcoming hosts. Facilities are varied & well presented. Location is idyllic, situated the Paignton side of Torquay away from the hustle & bustle of Torquay. A short walk from the seafront in one direction & Cockington Village in the other. You can walk to Paignton in about 30mins or there are nearby bus & train routes. The buses go from the aforementioned seafront & the train station is about a 10min walk from the Charterhouse. Cockington is a thatched village with a plethora of establishments in a community setting. Served by tea rooms, an ice cream parlour, local craft stores & the Drum Inn with its impressive beer garden all bordering a country park. We took a trip to Dartmouth via.a steam train ride from Paignton to Kingswear where we took the foot ferry across the River Dart to Dartmouth. We would recommend the George & Dragon situated a little further back from the river. Thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Charterhouse so we have booked again for next year & are taking more family members with us.

What a fabulous guest house/B&B. Private parking and the perfect location for a stroll along the beachfront to get to the edge of Torquay town where there are a few bars and restaurants, we tried them all and they were all great! This time we didn’t have a sea view, but we did have a family room which enabled us to use that as a dressing room, but next time we would go for a room with a sea view as they looked amazing! Breakfast was the best we have had in a very long time and was the perfect selection of food offerings and we had the choice of pastries and toast too which was great! Lisa was super friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble, no wonder this place has 5 star reviews, being looked after well is what makes a trip special, so thank you. We will be back!

We had a fabulous stay at the Charterhouse and Lisa was a very welcoming host. The facilities are excellent and the breakfast was divine! The location is perfect for a walk into Torquay along the coast and great for other nearby attractions. We had the top floor family suite which had nice views of the sea, plenty of space and a fridge which was very handy. We would definitely recommend staying here to others and will be back!
