Hotel Poseidon

The location of the hotel is twofold - not in a very tidy area, but that's not the hotel's fault, but it is only a 10 minute walk to the port to catch a ferry to the Isle of Capri and there is a supermarket (with alcohol) just around the corner). It's a large hotel, with a huge foyer/lobby, which houses the reception area, a lounge (with a large TV), a bar and two central lifts - two lifts in a hotel; what a bonus!! The total area had retro furniture, but it was a little sterile, perhaps too cavernous and the bar was only open for limited hours. Notwithstanding that, the accommodation was good. A large room, comfortable bed, good shower, although perhaps the bathroom was a little small in proportion to the room, air con, safe, fridge and free wi-fi. No complaints whatsoever. The breakfast room/restaurant is on the top floor with a great view over the port and the Tyrrhenian Sea and on a clear day, you can sea Capri. It is an enormous room with some very large, round tables, which is great for a group of people to converse with each other, but with 14 and 30 seats respectively, perhaps just too big. Breakfast was good for cold options, although no orange juice or decent bread for toast. Our tour included dinner in the restaurant as well and that too, was very reasonable. All in all, a good stay for two nights.

This hotel is a mixed bag of great and not so great. The location is very good for hoping onto trains (best use the circumvesuviana line) to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Sorrento. The best train line to/from Naples and Sarno is the one outside the hotel. The staff were very helpful and attended to our requests for information and equipment (for the room). On the last point, we booked a 2 bedroom apartment that was very spacious, comfortable beds, nice views and very clean. However, while the apartment had a fridge freezer, it did not have a sink unit or any utensils to self cater. We asked for a kettle, some cups, spoons and glasses etc so we could prepare drinks and snacks, but it would have been nice if these could have been provided as standard. There are a couple of decent supermarkets nearby but check the opening times, especially on Sundays/holidays. We can highly recommend the Ristorante pizzeria Da Ciccio for food and drinks. The key down point is arguably beyond the control of the hotel but we were disappointed with the amount of dog mess on the streets near the hotel and in Torre Del Greco generally; this appears to be a local issue as the problem was not as prominent in Sorrento, Naples, Capri or Stabia. Overall a good value hotel with lovely staff but room for improvement regarding the room facilities.

Il voto è il risultato della media tra ristorante, struttura e colazione. Ristorante: con un bel panorama su Capri si mangia una buona cucina d’albergo in una sala accogliente e curata Hotel: da ristrutturare soprattutto i bagni che mostrano i segni del tempo e il mobilio. Comodo il letto Colazione: voto 1. Non saprei da dove iniziare! Mi limito a condividere solo un paio di situazioni: mozzarelline finite poco prima delle 8, ne richiedo delle nuove, aspetto 15’ e solo quando hanno notato che mi alzavo spesso per verificarne la presenza mi dicono che sono finite (alle 8,00 !!!??). La premuta di arancia si paga! L’avranno fatta con le arance presenti nel buffet della frutta o con arance speciali. In alberghi di un certo tono difficilmente mi trovo a pagare la spremuta. Sulla qualità del resto no comment ( voto a parte le discrete mini sfogliatelle ricce)

Siamo stati in questo hotel durante un giro organizzato in Campania. L' hotel è bello, bell'appartamento ma lo stato di manutenzione è assolutamente carente. Manca riscaldamento in bagno, sciacquone wc spesso bloccato, tubo doccia con perdite di acqua, rubinetto lavabo mal fissato, fredda all'arrivo, parte di un armadio che si apre solo chiudendo la porta della camera, rumorosa causa treni sottostanti, un giorno non hanno fatto il letto, TV in posizione infelice. Colazione ottima, cena buona. Fuori non c'è proprio niente. Parcheggio a pagamento sotto l'hotel.

Esperienza sfortunata, tante aspettative non rispettate per le 4 stelle ... le dimensioni ci sono ma i servizi e i dettagli no. Prenotiamo per albergo e finiamo in stanza residence più grande sì , ma completamente diversa rispetto quella prenotata. Sbagliato poi il periodo, perchè qui i festeggiamenti per il capodanno sono prioritari rispetto al cliente.

Abbiamo soggiornato in questo hotel per quattro notti con un viaggio organizzato come base per visitare la Costiera Amalfitana. L'hotel è molto grande dall'esterno un po' tetro ,la hall invece è carina la nostra camera era bella e pulita e anche molto grande con salottino ma tanti del nostro gruppo non erano soddisfatti avevano bagni e camere che hanno bisogno di una sistemata . Il ristorante era all'ultimo piano con una bella vista sul golfo .Colazione buona e abbondante. Se dovessi ritornare da quelle parti da sola non sceglierei questo hotel.
