Medplaya Hotel Pez Espada

Per Espada is a nice hotel set on the front promenade. It has a slightly retro feel although all the fittings seem new. Ok sized room. Large breakfast buffet area which was very busy even off season. The pool was closed and the shower water pressure was very feeble. I mentioned it to the front desk but they ignored it. Seems to attract an older clientele.

This is a lovely hotel, right on the beach. The food was amazing, always something for all tastes…the hotel’s theme was amazing (Sinatra) etc was different….made it unique. There was entertainment every night which for low season was a really good touch. Drinks prices were reasonable…..overall, we loved it and simply cannot find fault.

Stayed for a weekend in January and was lucky to have stayed in a beachfront suite with balcony jacuzzi bath. The room was spotless, with an extremely comfortable bed, and had a large sofa and chair. The bathroom was well equipped with products and had a large walk in shower with a rainwater head and a standard head. I stayed bed and breakfast and the breakfast buffet was extremely well stocked with a great selection of food. The hotel has a very pleasant ambiance, and the staff in all areas were friendly and welcoming. I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again

We have had a very pleasant stay in a Junior Beach Front Suite with jacuzzi on the balcony. Our host Asmaa was the whole day in the private lounge for everyone. We come back the next time definitely. The hotel and the apartments are all in front of the lovely boulevard of Carihuela

This was our first stay, with an age range of our baby of 15 months to his granny who is 77. There’s a lot to like about this hotel, the staff are very friendly and helpful, and the place is spotlessly clean. Rooms are cleaned everyday by friendly cleaners. The hotel is styled as something out of the 60s, but still modern and my wife and I really liked it. The location is great, walking distance of lots of shops and restaurants and the surrounding areas are also very clean. Rooms are nice, we’d a double with a pool view. We’d asked for a cot but were given a fold out bed, but the main bed was massive so the baby was happy to sleep in it with us. Again, spotless with a nice bathroom. The food for breakfast and dinner is decent, better than expected, but my wife can’t eat gluten or dairy and the options weren’t clearly marked with allergens which was a bit annoying. The price of drink in the bar is quite reasonable too, but I did get charged €5.50 for a small bottle of fizzy orange at dinner - which is crazy. Pool area is good, lots of beds and parasols, but the kids pool is like an ice bath and the baby refused to get in to it. Main pool is also quite cold, but it’s a good size and wasn’t unbearable once you got in. Our oldest member was using a mobility scooter, there are lots of access ramps around the hotel, but some require tight turns but wasn’t too much of an issue. All things considered, I would recommend the Pez Espada. It’s very good value and worth a stay.

Just returned from the lovely hotel it's location is the best near to everything you need a lovely promenade plenty of restaurants bars all superb..hotel itself is spotless staff very friendly and helpful our bedroom was really well appointed, food breakfasts were great plenty of choice everything meal not as good needs a few tweets to some things but on the whole good choices. Unfortunately pool was not heated but beautiful clean and well looked after but too cold in beginning of May to go I'm for me. Would definitely recommend this beautiful hotel it has an allure to it will be going back . Give it a try.

Outdated and in need of a revamp. Location second to none, spotless. Other than this I have no other positive comments. Reception staff show no customer service. The hotel living on the history of past stars who stayed in the 50's &60's. 80% of the guest don't even know who some or all of these people are. The hotel needs to embrace the 21st century. Entertainment very dated and of poor quality. Very disappointing stay, no reason to return.

This was our first holiday to Mediterranean Spain / April 18 - 25 April. My wife had requested a high up room and when we got to the hotel we were given room 510 which was on the 5th floor looking out on the promenade and beach, the room was really nice , bed was really comfortable and the shower room was ok . Overall the hotel I could not fault , breakfast and evening meals were good, cooked or continental breakfast , most evenings there was meat and fish with salads and chips etc ,lots of fresh fruit and cakes etc ,good red and white wines . We never had a problem with queuing to get into the restaurant and there was always enough food and it was hot. never used the pool and never went to the entertainment, we used the bar a couple of times and the prices were good . Overall the Pez Espada is a very nice hotel ,well maintained and all the staff were polite and very helpful , this hotel was central all our walks along a very good flat promenade, lots of local bars and restaurants, shops , and wonderful tapas restaurants. We were that impressed with the hotel so we are going to book again in May 2025.
