Why House from the very start was welcoming, warm and with impeccable service all the way through to the end. The rooms were homely and inviting, the shower simply beautiful and the beds at the perfect delightfully comfortable. The food was exceptional and hit the mark each time - clever, bright, fresh and almost too moorish! I simply could not recommend the food more. The garden and swimming pool were serene and terribly hard to leave. Thank you Why House for the most exceptional stay and I can assure my return!

After a number of trips to Sri Lanka, this is the best hotel to stay at in the region and one of the best hotel experiences that I have ever enjoyed anywhere in the world. From the beautiful rooms, surrounding gardens, pool and overall ambience to superb staff and fabulous meals, worthy of any high-end restaurant. All this only a few minutes from the beach and an easy trip into Galle Fort. Special thanks to our host Henrietta who has created a very special 5-star international standard destination.

What an absolute treat. We landed in Sri Lanka to find that the hotel we had booked was under renovation. The amazing staff at Why House came to the rescue and gave us the holiday of our dreams. Every detail was perfect but the food, oh my, impossible to describe how amazing. We were looked after by Henrietta and her team and made to feel like it was our home. We will be back. Highly recommended- you will not be disappointed!

Everything about the why house will make your experience is Sri Lanka extra special, unique and unforgettable. Couldn’t recommend this place enough (I’ve been lucky enough to stay there twice both times equally insane). The rooms are large, spacious and bright with a traditional feel, the pool and restaurant have an unmatched chilled vibe and all the staff and friendly and helpful. Henrietta will of course make your experience that extra bit unique and ensure your trip is everything and more!! Not to mention the food is lush:)

The Why House was our final stop on a two-week family trip to Sri Lanka and we definitely saved the best until last. The whole site is absolutely stunning with lush gardens, stylish accommodation and a heavenly pool that has just been re-paved. Henrietta is an absolutely charming host and it feels more like you are staying in a villa than a hotel. The food was the best we had in Sri Lanka and the team were very happy to make more basic 'kids food' for our children. We stayed in the Garden Villa with our two teens on the mezzanine floor, which worked perfectly for our family of four. There are not many places that I would re-visit, but I would return to the Why House in an instant as it is such as special place.

We stayed here as the last part of our tour round Sri Lanka, and what a fantastic experience it was! The warm welcome from the very lovely owner, Henrietta, and her team, the delicious food, the wonderful ambiance and personal touch and feel, and the beautiful rooms and pool. We were with our 2 young kids and it was the perfect relaxing end to our busy trip. We were there in what is known as the rainy season, but it barely rained for 10 minutes the whole time we were there, so you don’t have to be put off by the time of year. We would definitely recommend it, and will do to all our friends and family looking to visit the amazing country. We hope to return another time! Thank you to all the brilliant team!

Just wow! Why House is (we’re still here) and has been the highlight of our 10 nights in Sri Lanka. It’s the last property we have stayed at and remains our favourite. Henrietta and her team run a well oiled machine, the food is first class, the recently refurbished pool a gem and accomodation just outstanding. My birthday occurred whilst we stayed at the property and the team made that special too. The highest praise we can afford anywhere we stay is recommendations to friends plus family and with that in mind Why House is at the top of that list for boutique properties to stay within Sri Lanka, we will be sad to leave Sri Lanka and Why House but also looking forward to return which we hope to very soon. Thanks Why House for a great ending to a fab Sri Lanka trip and a memorable birthday break, you guys rock! PS Letti is adorable
