Io e mio figlio abbiamo apprezzato molto l'accoglienza e la disponibilità del proprietario, sempre pronto a darci consigli e suggerimenti! La sistemazione nella camera con Marylin sullo sfondo, poi... Non ha prezzo! :-) Grazie! Nota speciale al materasso: non capita spesso di dormire bene fuori casa! Colazione più che dignitosa per le nostre abitudini. La posizione sul canale è pittoresca, vicino alla spiaggia ed alla fermata dei bus. Con le biciclette messe a disposizione, gratuitamente, si può raggiungere il centro e l'imbarco per i battelli in pochi minuti. Questa vacanza sarà sempre ricordata con gioia, anche grazie al soggiorno in questa struttura.
Hotel Rivamare

This is a family run, boutique hotel. The staff is very friendly, and everything is super clean. I find this place has a real Fawlty Towers type of vibe to it. I struggle to give it 3/5, as it is likely closer to 2.5/5. Rooms are bare bones, and very dated, in need of significant refurbishment and furniture replacement. No coffee/tea in the rooms, and no security latches on the doors. Breakfast was adequate, though I preferred buying breakfast somewhere else. It's not in a very busy area of the island, a good 15-20 min walk from the main restaurant area with nothing around the hotel. Windows don't have any screens, so we had mosquitos in the rooms at night which was pretty annoying. However, one of the best things about this place is how they cater to families. They have rooms with bunk beds, which is amazing. Compared to Venice, Lido is chill.
Hotel Excelsior Venice

A lovely hotel, if a little faded at the edges. Friendly helpful staff, a beautiful pool and a great gym. The PT (Jean-Marc) there is excellent. Very knowledgable, helpful and pushes you along with great skill & provided foc!! Breakfast was good, but could do with a few more healthy options. Unfortunately everything in the hotel is charged at a fantastically high rate, some examples: cup of coffee/tea €6 each, a small bottle of beer €11 & a chicken chopped salad €26. In some ways it spoils the stay as you become very aware of the prices. The free water shuttle to Venice is a great service. We were lucky with the weather and overall enjoyed our stay of four nights.
Hotel Villa Stella

Wonderful place to stay, perfect for visit to Venice The hotel is well maintained, the staff is friendly and welcoming. The gardens are beautiful. Distance to the main shopping/resturant and boat transportation area is only 15 minutes walk. We recommend to buy tickets (we bought tickets from Alilaguna) for both water taxis and land buses as they will give easy access to Venize, Murano and the islands around. Its is also easy to come to the hotel by watertaxi from the airport (Marco Polo). We would recommend this place.
Residenza d'Epoca Albergo Quattro Fontane

This hotel is very old. Having said this, it was very quaint with nicely decorated rooms. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was very clean. It had a small refrigerator and a safe. The staff were professional and helpful. The food was quite good. However, the air conditioning system is a joke. I was prepared for it not to get the room cold but I expected it to get the room somewhat cool. When we returned to the room after a hot, busy day in Venice Island, I was looking forward to a shower and a cool room. The room was actually warmer than the air outside. I took the shower and then was soaked in sweat for half of the night until the outside temperature cooled enough for the room to cool. The hotel made noises about getting a technician in to ”adjust” the system the next morning and we were assured that the AC would be fine the next even upon our return. To our dismay this was not the case and we spent a second very uncomfortable night. Again, I didn't expect cold but the room temperature at night was at least 27 celcius, and I'm sure that it was higher. It was stifling. For this reason I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone. I will never stay here again.
San Clemente Palace Kempinski Venice

The bar is set low - many of the so-called luxury hotels in Venice are scruffy, overpriced and offer mediocre service at best but the San Clemente really does not live up to the normal standards for a 5 star hotel. Location - out on a private island in the laguna. It sounds great to be able to get away from the army of tourists who invade Venice but for such a location to work there are several essentials: the shuttle boat to the city needs to be frequent, once on the island there must be a sufficiently wide choice of food and drink options of high quality so that one does not need to go back to the city every evening, there needs to be some entertainment even if only digital, and the accommodation and service must be so good that one feels pampered and unwilling to leave. The San Clemente is below par in every respect. Shuttle frequency - every 40 minutes is too infrequent and means a lot of wasted time and waiting on the dock at San Marco in bad weather is miserable. Food and drink choices re limited and what I sampled was really poor. Room service was unacceptable. A soggy burger and a smoked salmon sandwich made with stale bread were both accompanied by the soggiest and most disgusting fried potatoes I have ever been served. Minestrone in the bar was cold, looked like dirty dish water and had no taste at all. The breakfast buffet was fine though there was no option to order eggs freshly cooked. All food was disproportionately expensive. Internet in the hotel is slow so downloads take time and the TV in the room offers very few channels with no option to mirror from an ipad to watch films etc. The room was tired with peeling paint, threadbare upholstery and a rain shower that sprayed water in every direction except down. Much went under the closed shower door so that one had a private acqua alta in the bathroom! On one morning there was no hot water at all - even after leaving the shower running for at least 15 minutes on full hot. Housekeeping was erratic - toilet rolls not replaced, water and coffee supplies not replenished and the complimentary but very boring minibar not refilled on schedule. At a 5 star hotel one expects concierge staff who go the extra mile. Here they do not. A request for a vaporetto map was met with “use the internet”. They also lack the connections to obtain the unobtainable and could not find tickets for San Marco for that day at any price. One expects better of the Kempinski brand.
