I've always wanted to stay at the Jefferson Hotel, and I'm glad we did. The location is excellent, not far from the White House and other sights. The building is very pretty, especially in the immaculately kept common areas. The staff are nonpareil! So helpful, all of them, from housekeeping to the concierge to the front-desk staff to the doormen, and all. The concierge (who also manned the front desk sometimes) and the lady who checked us in gave us a nice restaurant recommendation for Le Diplomate, which we really enjoyed. They gave us help at every turn, too many times to list. The room service at the hotel was very nice indeed, too. We had a breakfast and a dinner, and it was really superb. The dinner had a spectacular hamburger, a salmon tartare, and for dessert, a cranberry-cherry fruit crumble that we thought was out of this world. The truffle mac and cheese was wonderful too. We're very grateful to this hotel for our experience there, and we look forward to returning when next we come to DC!

We have stayed at the Mayflower Hotel probably 6 times over the years and were always excited to stay at this iconic hotel. But this year's experience has been disappointing. Our first room was positioned over a massive air conditioning unit which emitted a high pitched sound all night long. I finally resorted to wearing my noise canceling headphones, but did not sleep from 3 AM on. We were moved to a new room after much confusion with the housekeeping staff. I noticed congealed ice-cream on the nightstand and toothpaste residue on the bathroom wall near the sink. I had to wipe down the surfaces which should have been done with a thorough cleaning. I expected more....

It was a great stay overall! Easy to find and quick and friendly professional service from a bell gentleman outside escorting me to the front desk. Valet service was very easy to use with my own phone requesting my car. Warming service at the front desk and very professional. Great etiquette. Pool closed at 10pm which was perfect for me and my family. Food was great! I was able to use my points as a World of Hyatt member in both room and restaurant. Very good room amenities, specially the beautiful bathtub.

We had a terrible experience with a nearby hotel after checking in at 3:00 in the morning, so we decided to move out after one night and moved to the Ritz-Carlton. I called to ask if they had a room available on the morning of our student's graduation - clearly upset and distressed as there were four events that day, and we'd had a terrible night - and Nik, the front of house manager, immediately put me at ease. I didn't see how we could possibly check out of the other hotel, get our bags and car, then check into the Ritz-Carlton and still make all the ceremonies and celebrations. To further complicate matters, I was in a wheelchair, which slowed us down and made getting around difficult. But Nik took care of EVERYTHING! Someone was sent to retrieve our bags, someone went for our car, and everything was in our room once all the events were done. There was even a bottle of champagne and some incredibly delicious chocolates waiting to help us celebrate our son's graduation when we got there that night! The room was spacious and well equipped, and the bathroom was a good size (although the shower is on the smaller side - we've encountered this in other Ritz Carlton hotels as well, but it doesn't bother us at all). Everything looks and feels 5-star at this location! Thanks to Nik and his fantastic team, what started out as an unpleasant start to our trip turned out to be an amazing stay, and we are very grateful! I should also mention that ALL the staff we came into contact with at this location couldn't have been nicer. Their front desk personnel, concierge, valet and outdoor staff are incredibly kind and helpful. What sets a Ritz-Carlton apart from every other 5-star hotel is it's staff; I can't say enough good things about everyone we met. The hotel is centrally located, plenty of Ubers are available, and lots of places to eat nearby. Every aspect of our stay was stellar. Won't hesitate to stay there again when we go back. Highly recommend!! *PS - I'm a terrible sleeper and can't sleep if I can hear the drip of a faucet or ticking of a clock, so if you need peace and quiet, request a room overlooking the courtyard - no noise could be heard at all.

Had a one day night stopover to collect my documents before heading on a flight back to Europe. The bed was clean and ambience was OK as with my previous stay. The charm of this renovated boutique hotel just steps off of DuPont Circle is only outmatched by the level of friends and customer service provided by the staff. You cannot ask for a more convenient location. There’s the DuPont Metro stop steps away, but we find many attractions are within a 30 minute walk. The rooms are well appointed with up-to-date furnishings and design, and glorious mattresses. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The free cocktail at 5pm isn’t bad either

This was my first stay in a capsule. I admit that I thought one would enter from the side instead of the end, not that this seemed to be a problem. I like the idea of being ensconced in a cocoon but I realise this isn’t for everyone. In dorm room situations I always prefer a lower bunk, the upper bunks can be more awkward. Unsurprisingly, the same applies here. Anyway, I put the pillow down the far end and climbed in head first. You ‘seal’ your capsule by pulling down the blind at the end. I am not claustrophobic in any way but found I had to keep the blind open for ventilation. There did appear to be ways to adjust the temperature but due to a busy travel schedule I didn’t get a chance to ask staff about this. This hotel uses Goki, this app that lets you scan yourself into the building and the rooms instead of typing in a room code. It has other functions as well. It is worth getting the Goki app as the door codes are changed periodically for security reasons but Goki should always scan you in once you’ve set it up. I thought that $5 for the laundry was a little much and I’m not sure how they ascertained who had paid and who hadn’t since you just walked in. Laundry detergent was included in the $5 charge and when I asked where I would find it they said it would be set out but I couldn’t find it anywhere so I had to track down a staff member. I’m glad to have finally checked ‘sleep in a capsule’ off the list.

This was the second Residence Inn we stayed in during our trip to DC and it was excellent, just like the first one was. It’s conveniently located and very clean. The folks at the front desk are very helpful and the breakfast is excellent. Our room was spacious but the AC was very loud. We had them come and look at it, but it continued to be loud. Regardless, we had a great stay and enjoyed the beautiful walk to Georgetown for dinner.
