I stayed at The Dolphin in a twin room as I was attending a friend's birthday party which was also hosted at the hotel. After a warm welcome in the bar and at reception, I found a clean comfortable, bright airy room, pleasantly decorated, overlooking the main street which was surprisingly quiet throughout my stay. Supplied with a decent amount of toiletries, and fluffy good sized towels a selection of branded, teas, coffees, hot chocolates, and choc-chip cookies, a welcome treat after a long journey. The party was hosted across a quaint cobbled courtyard which boasted a large screen showing the rugby six nations match for patrons who wanted to watch the game. The party was catered for by the hotel who tempted guests with an Indian buffet, delicious, with a vegan option. Afterwards platters of dainty sweet treats and a constant supply of coffee, a selection of teas and jugs of water for the designated drivers. There was a well stocked bar exclusive to party guests, staff kept the food and drink well stocked whilst providing an efficient, unobtrusive service throughout the evening. After the celebrations I enjoyed a peaceful night's sleep. In the morning a choice of breakfasts, included in the price, was on offer. A kitchenette just off the dining room allowed guests to help themselves to teas, coffees and juices, as well as toast, whilst waiting for our freshly cooked breakfasts to be bought to our table. My full English was cooked to perfection, fresh produce, crispy bacon and not at all greasy. Good portion sizes without being overfacing. Again a vegan option was made available to guests, alongside, porridge and continental options on the menu. A really pleasant stay, with staff providing a relaxed friendly atmosphere throughout my stay. Great value for money
