LuVi Portland, Portland, OR, ＞400 reviews, usually mis-identified by Tripadvisor: The parking situation is important in this cobbled city with limited spots close to this hotel. Had we any idea of the difficulty, we would have planned far in advance or, more likely, selected a different property. Hotel staff work very hard, and the result is a very clean, well run hotel, with everything you need, given that it is three-star lodging. In other words, you can expect a small shower stall (but strong, hot water), only the necessary towels, and one extra large, fluffy pillow. For the hotel's size size, breakfast is decent, and there is unlimited coffee which does not compensate for there being no coffee in the guest room. Six of us traveled together, and the breakfast area is not set up for room to spare at busy hours. At the front desk, staff worked hard to answer questions, indicating directions on their maps, and making worthwhile suggestions. This is not a fancy hotel. But were we to come here again without a vehicle, we would stay here again. With a vehicle, we would speak with the hotel first to assure that they would have a spot for us.

This is a convenient hotel right downtown and near cafes and restaurants. it is a 15 minute walk to see the palace, and 15 minutes in another direction to get to the train station. If arriving by train with your luggage, it is best to hire a cab for the ride to the hotel. The rooms are clean and comfortable, although ours was dark. They give you free coffee and water every day, and that's a plus because breakfast is 20 euro a person per day. You can buy something from a nearby cafe and use the coffee maker to get a start on the day more quickly. The front desk is exceptionally friendly and ready to help call a cab or assist with travel plans.

The price for our stay at Poppular City Hotel was extremely reasonable, and a very nice German breakfast was provided. Great attention is paid to cleanliness and protection from Covid. Staff provided clear instructions about the hotel, free WiFi, etc. The walk from the Hauptbahnhof was about 10 minutes but in a straight line, and it was very easy to walk from the hotel to historic sights, the city market place, and restaurants. A lovely, first stay in Würzburg. The woman who ran the registration desk and supervised the breakfast room was so gracious--a beautiful experience!

We spent 2 nights in this hotel as part of our Romantic Road trip. We booked on line with the hotel directly 1 1/2 months prior to arrival and requested for a room with a view. Unfortunately, upon arrival in the hotel at around 15.30 hrs we were given a room facing the back road. The girl at the counter insisted on several occasions that no other rooms were available until a few minutes later she came to our room and offered a move to a room with a view. It was well worth the trouble as it makes such a difference to look out to the river and castle on top of the hill. The rooms themselves look recently renovated and are very comfortable. There is a split air con unit which makes for a comfortable room climate during the hot summer days. Both windows facing the road and river can be fully opened and there are electric black out blinds and drapes. The windows are fully soundproof and we slept very comfortably. The beds are 2 singles pushed together in the usual German style. The bathroom is small with a shower, wash basin and toilet. Although very compact, everything works. The water pressure is strong and there is liquid soap and shampoo in dispensers. There is a big flat screen TV with a lot of German and International channels, a fully stocked mini bar, in room safe and 2 USB charging points at the desk. A Nespresso machine with complimentary coffee pods is also available. Breakfast is the usual spread of German breads and bread rolls, cold meat and cheese, cereals and scrambled eggs. We had a very comfortable stay and I would have rated the hotel as excellent if not for the hick up with the location of the view. The gentleman with beard who checked us out was very friendly. We came by car and left our vehicle in the public car park just across the road from the hotel. Overnight parking is Euro 19.00 per day and there is no discount for hotel guests. My suggestion would be to make rooms with a view bookable at a higher price and have a guaranteed reservation for this room type.

Well, one hostel had to be worst of my trip. I just wish it hadn't been quite SO bad. I could talk about their deceptive business practices. I could talk about the horrendous customer service. I could talk about the outrageous price. Instead I'll just say this. How on earth does a hostel only open their reception between 6pm and 8pm? You literally have two hours where you're allowed to check-in. Your train arrives at 4? Tough luck, gotta wait. Had a delay and arrived 8:30? Thanks for your money, but you ain't sleeping here. They don't even have a phone number in case any of their current guests have a problem. Lost your key or someone stole your wallet in the middle of the night? Good luck finding a bench to sleep on. They say it's because of covid, but covid exists in all of Europe. Are all the other hostels in Europe also closing at 8? Right, didn't think so. The reality is that this is because the manager is a cheapskate with zero regard for their guests.
