The White Horse

Genuinely a nice traditional pub, but never in my life have I been served by someone who didn’t utter a single word though the whole process of buying drinks; nothing at all, not even a “thank you”, they just walked away once the beers were on the bar. Not the best way to make us want to stay, not the best way to attract customers. And… the staff used both bar stools as their coat racks so customers couldn’t sit at the bar. Worst pub service I’ve experienced in a long, long time.

A massive thank you to Gavin and another kind gentleman who helped my daughter when she had a flat tyre the other day. Glad to see chivalry is not dead after all. Thank you so so much for all you help. Will definately be back for a drink to thank you properly for your heroics.

Lovely welcoming staff, nice spacious clean rooms. Food and drink was amazing. Thank you for our great stay, we would definitely visit again on our travels to the beautiful City of York. Friendly atmosphere on arrival. Only wish we could stay longer.

The young lady serving at the bar was very friendly. Excellent service. I would most definitely/certainly return. Yorkshire is always very pleasant to visit. I will come back. I am trying to fill the two hundred characters. We will be back for Christmas

Stayed here for couple of nights as our usual place was full and it was a good price the room was very dated with very old furniture and 2 single beds pushed together in the bathroom every time you used toilet sink or shower it sounded like roadworks and as we were leaving sewage was coming up the bath plug hole We came back to the pub before 10pm on both nights to have a drink but it was closed ! Breakfast was nice but the poor chef was run ragged and looked like he was trying to do 10 jobs at once

We booked 2 nights for new year !! Very old building which we enjoy staying these type of properties Scott the owner very welcoming both Claire’s was very friendly and helpful As was the rest off the team Couldn’t fault our stay Live band what the duck ! Was brilliant Saturday night and New Year’s Eve was karaoke again brilliant night Bedrooms was clean bed was comfortable Breakfast was lovely and big ! Thankyou for a wonderful stay Scott and your team are a credit to you We will definitely stay again when we come back to York Donna Scott Clive Christine
