Basic but comfortable stay. The room and toilet were clean. The location was great to explore york and nearby spark box (eatery) & convenience store

Not enough carpark space : Please be mindful that there isnt enough parking space on site. As we arrived quite late at around 9pm, the on site parking was full and we had to park in a car park 5 mins walk away, which is fine but it would have been more convenient to park at the hotel. Very aged and small room : We chose a Hilton hotel to avoid staying in an old-fashioned B&B in york, however it is really a surprised to us that the room was very old and aged... which i think was misleading in the pictures, maybe because we got different type of room, but we definitely expected a more modern accommodation. Woodbug issues: We found a few small insects during our stay, which i would say is quite normal during British summer, although its not pleasant. We took picture and looked it up and believed they were ”Drugstore beetles” which can be found in old wooden structures. Welcoming Staffs: Staff at the reception was really nice and friendly. We were welcomed with warm cookie which was definitely a nice touch, especially after a long drive. The hotel breakfast was lovely too. The restaurant, lobby and public areas have much more modern interior than the rooms. Overpriced rate: Overall we slept well at the hotel. The mattress and bedding was comfy. However, I would say it was quite overpriced as the bedroom quality would be classed as a 3-star B&B or motel in my opinion. Do not recommend it.

My wife and I traveled from California for a UK excursion and spent several days in South Kensington prior to visiting York. We took a train from London to York and Ubered from the York train station which we could have walked from had we not had luggage. We absolutely loved this hotel! All room amenities had been upgraded and were modern while preserving the 150 year old feel, including a lovely four post bed. Given the rooms were somewhat tight, the bathrooms were large with full shower/bathtubs and frankly I loved the set up. The down pillows and down comforters were a huge plus which allowed us to stay toasty while letting in the brisk Yorkshire air from the open window. If you are looking for spacious/ modern then go stay in Leeds. This is York for heavens sake so experience it in all its beauty. Modernity is not what this experience is about. There is an on-sight restaurant and bar where service was exceptional. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. York Minister/Shambles/ train station and restaurants are all within walking distance. I highly recommend No. 1 by Guesthouse and sign up for a late night Ghost Tour in the citadel if you get a chance. A big plus was the second floor complimentary snacks where we went down late at night to fetch ice cream, crisps, and drinks if we had the munchies. It was a nice touch and highly welcoming.

We came by train. , so close to station , lovely hotel . Reception staff helpful and welcoming, storage for case both when arriving and leaving Short walk inro York , beautiful room with a bath We had dinner and breakfast , food all lovely , no complaints at all.

We have visited The Dean Court before and enjoyed it so much we wanted to return for our 10 year wedding anniversary. Upon checking in we was told that they had upgraded us free of charge. An absolutely lovely guesture which made our stay even more better! Thank you for having us again and we will definitely be back!

Nice staff. We asked for early check-in so the staff tried to find the rooms for us. Fortunately, there was the available rooms so we could have early check-in to keep our luggage before going out.

We booked a family room with 1 child, but when checking in they were not aware we had a child so the room was not prepared. The receptionist said they will send someone up to sort out the sofa bed. We didn’t mind as we will be out for dinner in the city, but when we got back to our room the sofa bed has still not been made. So off I went to the reception to ask another receptionist can they get the sofa bed made. Than this was done promptly but they didn’t bring the extra duvet or pillow. This part has let the hotel down on this occasion, we have not been offered anything free for the inconvenience. Also, if you arrived late in the evening, you will not be able to see the hotel, as they don’t have any light to the hotel name. The design of the room we are in is a bit odd, toilet is separate to the bath room and the toilet is so small you have to squeeze yourself in to be able to close the door. The only best thing that we encounter is the bed, very comfy and big.

Beautifully furnished rooms throughout. Comfy beds, well cooked and presented breakfast with a wide choice - something for everyone. Staff very helpful with local bus/taxi details and information for exploring York with somewhat disabled people included. We did not want for anything and the car park was such a boon for us.

The staff are nice and friendly. There is car park at the back of the hotel. It was a nice and convenient location. We stay on the ground floor, only a few steps up, from the reception. It was very great, we don’t need prepare the sofa bed, they had done before our arrival. Only the cleanliness is a bit not up to standard. There is nail polish left on the desk and plastic clip on the floor. It is nice to provide tooth brushes and razors. However, no slippers can be provided, which is the only thing we had forgotten. The body and hand wash are locked, it was empty in the shower, we needed to call for refill. If we can move the one from the basin, then we don’t need to bother the staff. The worst is no sound proof at all. You can hear someone outside in the corridor and even next door. We can hear next door’s conversation clearly.
