Have you noticed the Gengzhi Tu (Ploughing and Weaving Pictures)?

Visitors to the Summer Palace will definitely pay attention to Kunming Lake, Wanshou Mountain, and the Seventeen-Arch Bridge. They may also visit the Summer Palace Museum, look at the bronze bull by the lake, stroll along the West Causeway, and visit Suzhou Street... Do you know about the "Gengzhi Tu" scenic area (Figure 16 yellow frame) located on the west side of the park? Gengzhi Tu was built during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. It is a group of water town pastoral buildings built to display the cultural tradition of "men ploughing and women weaving" in China. In 1860, Gengzhi Tu was destroyed by the invasion of the Anglo-French Allied Forces. In 1886, Empress Dowager Cixi ordered the construction of the Naval Academy on the ruins of Gengzhi Tu to train naval reserve talents. In 2004, the Gengzhi Tu scenic area was restored and rebuilt. It now has the Naval Academy, Yanshangzhai, Can Shen Temple, Gengzhi Tu Stone Carving Corridor, etc., which complement the other beautiful scenery of the Summer Palace. During the National Day, in addition to the original exhibits in the Naval Academy, bonsai and flower arrangements are on display. Accompanied by the fragrance of osmanthus, isn't it wonderful to visit here!
