I flew over 1,000 kilometers just to have a conversation across time and space. Chongqing Dayuanxiang Museum—a small, hidden museum of Ba Yu culture nestled in the mountains. It’s known as the “Dunhuang on Wood.” Getting up close to the exhibits is an experience that truly shakes the soul.😭 The museum consists of 8 exhibition halls covering 53 acres. The original site was once the Tianfu Bowl Factory, established during the Xianfeng era. It now houses tens of thousands of Ming and Qing dynasty wooden sculptures, as well as various ancient doors, windows, and furniture from those times. The old buildings are covered in lush green moss, and the air is filled with the scent of aged wood, bearing the marks of time. 📍 Location: Dayuanxiang Museum 🚗 Address: Longjiang New Stone Village, Bijiang District, Chongqing (about 1 hour from the city center) 🎫 Ticket: 50 RMB per person 🕰 Opening Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM ✅ Tips for Visiting: 1️⃣ The location is quite remote, about a 1-hour drive from downtown Chongqing. Self-driving or carpooling is recommended. 2️⃣ The entire museum takes around 3 hours to explore, making it well worth the price. 3️⃣ You can have lunch inside the museum, with a good mix of meat and vegetables for 20 RMB per person. There’s also a milk tea shop inside.
