Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine

Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is absolutely stunning and rich with history! This shrine is dedicated to Sugawara Michizane, the deity of learning, making it a popular place for students praying for success. The approach to the shrine is lined with charming souvenir shops and local delicacies, including the famous umegae mochi, which I highly recommend trying! The shrine grounds are beautiful, with red bridges crossing over peaceful ponds, seasonal flowers, and an ancient tree said to be over a thousand years old. It can get quite busy, especially during exam season and New Year's, but the atmosphere is always serene. I also visited the nearby Kyushu National Museum, which added more depth to the experience. If you love Japanese culture, history, and scenic beauty, this is a must-visit. Just a short train ride from Fukuoka, it’s well worth the trip!
