Unplanned day trip at Emeishan

Got a day in Chengdu and you don't know what to do? Stop looking, and buy your tickets for Emeishan. 🏞️ The train ride from Chengdu is around an hour and a half. When you arrive at the railway station, you can buy your tickets for the mountain there. We decided to go directly to the summit. The bus took an hour and a half and dropped us near the cable car. We decided to walk, which was a good workout (around 2hours with breaks). It was very rewarding once we arrived, and the place was worth the effort. The mist, the clouds moving fast, the Buddhist chants, everything made this place special. As we wanted to see the monkey area, we decided not to stay for too long, and we were right as the descent took us around an hour and a half. Please note that you can take the cable car up and down, which is the favored way of doing it as walking all those steps can be demanding. The bus ride to Wuxian-Gang took us quite some time as well, and before we knew it, we had to hurry to reach the monkey area (6km from the dropoff point) as the last bus leaves at 6pm. We were in absolute awe in front of the landscapes. It was totally different from what we had seen at the summit. It wasn't cold anymore, on the contrary. People were relaxing and enjoying the refreshing water in the river, taking beautiful pictures, enjoying the scenery. It almost felt like a movie. Unfortunately, as we were too late, we didn't reach the monkey area and didn't see any, but we're glad we stopped there to admire this landscape. Our only regret is that we didn't stay one more day to explore more in depth and enjoy what the mountain has to offer. I think you can do a lot in two days, but three gives you a more in depth view of the area. We returned to Chengdu after walking more than 14km and the equivalent of 250 floors, tired, but happy.
