The Buddha Treasure Pagoda

The Buddha Treasure Pagoda, also known as the Seven-Level Stupa, is located in the eastern courtyard of the Jile Temple on Dongdazhi Street in Nangang District, Harbin. It was initiated and funded by disciples of the monk Tanxu, led by the monk Jinglang. The pagoda is connected to the south with a Ksitigarbha Hall, which has a gabled roof. In front of the hall, there is an open pavilion with arches. On the east and west sides of the courtyard in front of the pagoda and hall, there are two-story pagoda-style bell and drum towers. Windows are opened on the east, south, west, and north faces of the pagoda from the third level upwards, while the rest are equipped with arched niches that house relief sculptures of Arhats. The hall and pagoda are interconnected, housing statues of Amitabha Buddha, Shakyamuni Buddha, Medicine Buddha, Avalokitesvara, Manjushri, Samantabhadra, and Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. The inner walls of the pagoda and hall are adorned with murals depicting the Buddhist stories of the aforementioned three Buddhas and four Bodhisattvas. The bird stops under the eaves of each level of the pagoda are sculpted with reliefs of dragons, phoenixes, lions, cranes, etc., which are lifelike in design. The layout connecting the pagoda, hall, and pavilion is unique and rare in China.
