The ancient village of Heyang is located in Jinyun County, Zhejiang Province, and is a very niche and unpopular ancient village that many people may have never heard of. In 933 AD, after the fall of the Tang Dynasty, during the Five Dynasties period, the brothers Zhu Qingyuan, who were the record-keepers of the Wuyue Kingdom, sought refuge from the chaos of the Five Seasons and were enchanted by the landscape of Jinyun Mountains, thus settling here. Since their original home was in Xinyang, Henan, they named the place 'Heyang'. Heyang ancient village currently has ten major clan manor-style ancient residential buildings and fifteen ancient ancestral halls, the Song dynasty ancient temple Fuchang Temple which embodies the unity of three religions, the 'Eight Scholars Gate' from the Yuan dynasty and the stone 'Xi Han' bestowed by the founder of the Ming dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang, in front of the 'Eight Scholars Gate'. There is also the Heyang paper-cutting for window decoration, which is considered a unique art of Chinese folk culture, as well as relics of peasant rebel armies from various dynasties, traditional folk activities with an ancient charm, forming a rare thousand-year-old cultural ancient village in the south of the Yangtze River.
