[Kaifeng Prefecture] Bianjing City Kaifeng's geographical conditions are very suitable for the development of an agricultural economy. Bianjing City successively became the capital of the Later Liang, Later Jin, Later Han, and Later Zhou during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. In 960 AD, Zhao Kuangyin, a general of the Later Zhou, launched the "Chenqiao Mutiny," replaced the Later Zhou, and became emperor. He established the Song Dynasty (Northern Song) and made Kaifeng the capital, calling it "Dongjing." After 167 years, the Northern Song was destroyed after the Jingkang Incident. After Kaifeng was occupied by the Jin army, it continued to be the capital of the Jin Dynasty. After the Southern Song was established by Emperor Gaozong Zhao Gou, the capital was moved to Lin'an (now Hangzhou). After 152 years, the Southern Song was finally destroyed by the Yuan army.
