River Khwae Bridge

There is a reason Thailand is the land of smiles. Far away from the touristy beaches of Phuket and the bustling lights of Bangkok lies a sleepy little town known for the original place that the plot of the movie “Bridge over the river Kwai” took place. Hidden away deep in the jungle near the border of Myanmar is Kanchanaburi. This magical place is home to the oldest tree in Thailand and some really magnificent views. There seems to be Waterfalls all over the place here and after renting a scooter and cruising around, if you get a bit too hot just hop in with local kids who will be delighted for you to join them. Check out the National park not to far away and try your hand at fishing in the river or one of the fishing lakes in the area. #urbanexplorer #thailand #fisherman #urbanexplorer

River Khwae Bridge

Visiting one of the top visiting point in Kanchaburi. The River Kwai Bridge also known the (Death Railway in Kanchanaburi Province of Thailand. The bridge is full of historical significance. Thailand never colonised, but certainly occupied It’s a frequently touched upon matter of pride for Thais, and the Thai state, that Thailand has never been fully colonised. Yet, while Thailand may indeed never have been colonised, it has at various times been occupied by foreign powers, including by the Japanese during World War Two. This took the form of the now infamous Death Railway, constructed by the Japanese using the forced labour of hundreds of thousands of civilians from southeast Asia and prisoners of war from the Allies’ forces. When talking about "River Kwai", often people are automatically thinking of (about) the Bridge. However, the river is a life line of Kanchanaburi and its people
