Liu Ku Town is the first stop on the way north up the Nu River, a necessary pass to Laomudeng and Bingzhongluo, and also an important part of Lushui City. The name 'Liu Ku' comes from a local waterfall cave by the Nu River, commonly known as the Dragon Cave. In the Lisu language, 'dragon' is called 'Lu' and 'cave' is called 'Ku', hence the name 'Liu Ku' is derived from the phonetic transformation of 'Lu Ku'. Liu Ku was once the capital of the Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture, known as 'the first town of the Nu River'. The area is characterized by high mountains and deep valleys, with ravines crisscrossing. To the east is the Biluo Snow Mountain, which separates the Nu River and the Lancang River and rises to 4,500 meters, and to the west is the Gaoligong Mountain, stretching 600 kilometers with an elevation of 5,200 meters, home to the beautiful Nu River Grand Canyon.
