Spanish town of Mijas

Here is the small town of Mijas in southern Spain, facing the Mediterranean Sea with mountains to the north, with blue skies, white clouds, white walls and red tiles. What a beautiful place, but it also hides a deadly threat. On January 17, 1965, a US B52 bomber carrying four hydrogen bombs collided with a refueling plane over this area, resulting in the destruction of the aircraft and loss of life. Three of the hydrogen bombs fell into the sea and one fell on Spanish soil, fortunately without exploding, otherwise it would have destroyed half of Spain.
