#summerdestinations During my summer vacation, I visited the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum in Oświęcim, Poland, and the experience of walking through the Auschwitz dormitories was profoundly moving. Entrance to the site is free, but I highly recommend the guided tour for around €14 to gain deeper insights. The dormitories, where countless prisoners endured unimaginable suffering, are preserved to reflect the harsh conditions they faced. Seeing the wooden bunks, cramped living spaces, and minimal facilities was heart-wrenching. The displays of personal items, photographs, and detailed accounts of life in the camp brought the history to life in a deeply personal way. Nearby, you can explore the vast grounds of Birkenau, where the scale of the atrocities becomes even more apparent.
