In-depth Sanya travel guide: Only suitable for vacation, not for sightseeing|||Sanya is really only suitable for vacation, not for sightseeing. I stayed home for five days straight again, it's really not worth going around to check in at various spots. I spend every Chinese New Year in Sanya, so I have a certain understanding of it. It's a cultural desert, without any local characteristics or historical sites, and no museums or the like (I saw a Shanhai Giant Clam Museum nearby, wanted to go but was too lazy to go out, so I haven't been there). It's a food desert, the specialties are coconut chicken (good), fermented vinegar hot pot (sour hot pot, you can try it), Qingbuliang (not as good as Cantonese desserts in my opinion), and Baoluo rice noodles (I personally don't like it). Recently, vanilla duck suddenly became popular. I haven't heard of it before, so I don't know how it tastes. The only thing worth visiting in Sanya is the seaside. You can check out West Island/Wuzhizhou Island, Sun Bay, and Xiaodonghai (there are quite a few pebbles on the beach). If you want to surf, you can go to Houhai (don't go if you're not surfing, it's dirty and messy). Half-Hill Peninsula Sailing Port is also worth a visit and taking some photos. Visit Nanshan Temple to see the South Sea Guanyin. I recommend a less-known small park ~ Xiaozhou Island Re-greening Park. It's small but has access to the seaside, a beach, and very few people! Inside, you can see a bunch of yachts and water sports, and the water is quite blue. Dadonghai/Coconut Dream Corridor (free beach, but every time I go there are so many people, the beach is full of Russians with big bellies). I personally think it's average (but you can go for a walk). Tianya Haijiao (a stone inscribed with "Tianya Haijiao" 😅). Linchun Ridge, Luhuitou Park, Tianya Town, Fenghuang Ridge (nothing special, just for a walk). Small and Big Cave Heavens (a popular spot for photos, indeed beautiful, but there's no way to queue up for photos, and the inside is just average).
