I had a spontaneous get-together with my bestie in Hongkou and discovered this super popular Shanghainese restaurant, Hushangxin Bistro. The restaurant has a simple yet stylish ambiance, bright and airy, which instantly lifted our spirits. 🥩 Grandma's Braised Pork Belly The glistening, reddish-brown color of the pork belly was incredibly appetizing. Each piece was braised to perfection, melting in your mouth. The fatty part wasn't greasy at all, and the skin was delightfully chewy and tender. 🦐 Golden Crab Roe Tofu with Shrimp The golden crab roe tofu was incredibly tender, complemented by the fresh and succulent shrimp. The texture was delicate and refreshing, each bite a burst of flavor from the sea and the tofu. It was so delicious, it almost made my eyebrows fall off! 🐟 Stir-fried Eel in Brown Sauce A true classic of Benbang cuisine! The rich sauce coated every piece of eel, creating a complex and satisfying flavor profile. Each bite was pure bliss. 🦐 Signature Fried Shrimp I was completely captivated by the delicious fried shrimp! The shell was perfectly crispy, while the shrimp meat remained tender and bouncy. With every bite, a burst of sweet and savory juice filled my mouth. The perfect balance of sweet and savory – I loved it!
