Ideal Camping: Magnificent Charm of Baishuitai

#campingfun The Baishui Plateau, also known as the White Water Terraces, is located southeast of Shangri-La County, in the foothills of the snowy Haba Mountain (Haba). If you are reading this inscription, then someone took this article from BigPicture.ru 2000 meters above sea level. This is one of the most attractive attractions of the mysterious Shangri-La with a history of 200,000 to 300,000 years. The white terraces are 140m long and 160m wide and are one of the largest calcium carbonate terraces in China. Over thousands of years, water flowing down from nearby mountains has accumulated calcium carbonate dissolved in it, and created limestone terraces that currently look as if they are made of white marble. The spring water running along the mountainside looks like a huge jade carved from a green mountain. The carbonate-calcium layers grew gradually, layer by layer, and that made them look like terraces, so the locals nicknamed them the terraces left by the fairy. Water from the Habaxueshan Mountains seeps down from the upper terrace of the pool, then flows into the pool located below, which it fills to the brim and overflows into the next one, located even lower, and so on, until the water overflows over the outer edge of the last of this set of terraced pools. The basins themselves were turned over a long time under the influence of the erosive action of acidic waters, which in former times washed out minerals from limestone, forming weak carbonic acid. The terraces are especially beautiful in autumn, when their shores are covered with plants with bright yellow and red leaves, and in contrast with the surrounding mountains, the plateau acquires an even more impressive appearance. The white water terraces are considered the cradle of the Dunba religion of the Nakhi people and are a holy place for the local population. In the Nakhi language, "Baishuitai" literally means "gradually grown flowers." All above makes this place an ideal spot for unforgettable camping experience.
