Baishuitai in the countryside - China's Cotton Castle

On the way from Shangri-La to Lijiang, you will pass by a special geological landscape called Baishuitai. Located in Sanba Township, Shangri-La, at an altitude of 2,380 meters, it is the birthplace of the Dongba religion of the Naxi people. The spring water, which contains a large amount of calcium bicarbonate, slowly flows down, and the carbonate gradually precipitates, forming terraces over the years, resembling layers of white terraces. Even the ordinary mud or water channels that the water flows through will leave a layer of hard calcium deposits. The clear spring water is stored in the white pools, and under the sunlight, it looks very beautiful. Some people call it "China's Cotton Castle," but up close, it actually looks like a swimming pool in a residential area.
