Check in at the Taishu Mansion in Taining and learn about the story of Li Chunye from the Ming Dynasty.

On the seventh stop of my self-guided tour of Zhejiang, Fujian, and Jiangxi, I came to the small city of Taining in northern Fujian to explore the story of Li Chunye, a model of farming and reading. The Taishu Mansion, commonly known as "Wufu Hall", is located in Futang Lane, Shengli Second Street, Taining County, Sanming City, Fujian Province. It was built during the Tianqi period of the Ming Dynasty (1621-1627) and was the mansion of Li Chunye, the Minister of War of the Ming Dynasty and the Grand Tutor of the Crown Prince. Li Chunye lost his father when he was a child. His mother and uncle brought him up. He became a scholar at the age of 16, a scholar at the age of 36, and a scholar at the age of 46. He served as an official in the court and served as the Minister of War, a first-class official. At the age of 60, he resigned and returned to his hometown to support his mother. He died at the age of 67. The Taishu Mansion was the mansion he built during his return to his hometown. He spent 7 years of leisurely life here. He had many political achievements during his tenure. He served in the Ministry of Personnel, the Ministry of Households, and the Ministry of Works. During his tenure in the Ministry of Works, he was also responsible for the maintenance of the three main halls of the Forbidden City, which laid the foundation for his later construction of the Taishu Mansion. Li Chunye's official career was smooth and there were no major ups and downs, reflecting the character of Fujian people who dare to fight and win. Finally, when he resigned and returned to his hometown, his life was wonderful and fulfilling. This can't help but remind people of the "Rice Planting Song" by the Tang Dynasty's Hotei monk, "Hand in hand with the green seedlings to fill the field, bow your head and see the water in the sky. The heart is pure and the way is clear, and the retreat is the way forward."
