Shimen Reservoir Scenic Area

Shimen Reservoir was once the largest reservoir in the Far East and remains one of the most important reservoirs in northern Taiwan. The area boasts beautiful landscapes all year round, with picturesque lake and mountain views. Popular tourist attractions within the scenic area include the dam, spillway, lake cruise pier, Xizhou Park, Maple Forest Park, and Nanyuan Ecological Park. Shimen Reservoir is also a great place for flower viewing. In winter, the golden maple leaves and the sea of white plum blossoms are a feast for the eyes. When spring arrives, peach blossoms, cherry blossoms, and azaleas bloom in full splendor. During the rainy season, the dam's flood discharge creates a spectacular scene that attracts many visitors.
