The Yuan Dynasty built the "Dongpo Temple" on the original site, and then was scrapped as a monk house. In the 13 years of Ming Dynasty, the Ministry of Industry Shilang and Yixing Shen Xuan rebuild the "Dongpo College" here as a place for literati and bachelors to gather and remember the sages. During the Qing Dynasty Kangxi and Qianlong years, they were repaired and expanded many times. During the Xianfeng years, the college was burned. Guangxu eight years, the local 24 Wang nationality joint venture to rebuild the "Dongpo College" as a place to train talents in the eight townships in southeast Yixing. In 32 years, Guangxu abolished the imperial examination and changed to "Dongpo Higher Elementary School Hall" and then became the seat of "Dongpo Elementary School".
