I have been a continuous guest at this fine hotel since many years. In my first stay in a long time, I felt welcome as always, actually more. The hotel welcomed me back and let me feel at home away from home again. I was with my family, so it was more than getting back home, it was getting to a home, with friends. Roomservice to the Residence Suite was quick and impecable, I enjoyed it a lot with my family, Social Distance rules are easy to keep with this service, which I can highly recommend. Ammenity touches with biosecurity material are very nice. Overall hotel is same as usual, with the exception that due to slowdown, not all services / restaurants were open, but that does not really matter. The important thing is to see that Hotel Europa is going on and welcoming visitors. Many hotels in La Paz have shut down completely, or not reopened yet. I can persuade anyone reading this message, to go to Hotel Europa in La Paz, specially if their destinations are in the center of the city. Even if the destinations are not in the city center, the modern cable car system is only some steps away, and in a breeze you can be at other corners of the city, in a cheap, efficient and also clean public transportation system. Reliable taxis, with drivers I have known since years, are also at the front door, ready to give biosafe rides to where one needs them. Central heating, floor heating, was always great and gives a reason to enjoy the room even more. To the management, if you read this message, congratulations, in this difficult time, you are doing a fine job in the reactivation.

It is not the easiest task to choose a hotel on the other side of the world from your cozy surroundings back home. Of course you check Tripadvisor and a few other sites before finally making your decision. But still, you never know. If you by chance are going to La Paz in Bolivia, trust me on this: Stay at Hotel Sagarnaga. You will not be disappointed. Good prices, really nice staff, clean comfortable rooms and perfectly situated in the city. Most staff speak really good English and they understand service. Breakfast is simple but good enough for you to make it until lunch. Also, should you have any desires to climb a mountain, ride a bike, go on a bustour to Lake Titicaca etc you have several agencies of which Jiwaki would be one I would recommend just 10-50 meters from the hotel. And yes, La Paz is situated at 3700 masl and you might, no, you should be very careful upon arrival and give it at least 48 hrs of rest before you attempt any kind of activity. Hence Hotel Sagarnaga: Within 60 seconds distance you have ATM´s, Money exchange, Good restaurants, small stores to buy your water to have in the hotel room while you rest and try to get oxygen into your lungs. In other words, Hotel Sagarnaga offers you a perfect infrastructure to get comfortable and catch your breath.

I stayed as part of a group tour. The location seems to be near some of the tourist attractions- souvenir shops, witches market, etc. However, you may get stuck in a room like mine with no windows. There actually is one window in my bathroom which opens to a stairwell. Earlier in the day I couldn’t tell if someone was taking a shower nearby or if it was raining. I have a king size bed. There is a radiator in the room- no wall thermostat. None of the English channels on the TV work. There is one elevator in the hotel. The towels smell like chemicals. The WiFi works well in the room. There is tea available in the front lobby. There are decent reading lights in the room. There is a secure safe in the room. Front desk staff speak English. There are shelves to store clothes but no place to hang anything. Conditioner and lotion are not provided. The hair dryer is underpowered for any type of styling. You can definitely hear the traffic noise and people talking in the lobby from my room. I would not stay here again.

This is certainly one of our best stays ever. Everything from the time of booking months in advance till check out was beyond excellent. Their customer service is a shining example of what it should be in hospitality industry. They were very prompt with email communication regarding airport transfers and booking details, and provided excellent dining suggestions. For people like us who are not fluent in Spanish, almost whole staff speaks English, so that was helpful. Everyone is polite, eager to help and give personal attention to each guest. Airport taxi which they booked waited for over 2 hours for us to come out of immigration, which was such a relief at 3 AM in the morning. Room was very comfortable for both short and long term stays, and each small detail was taken care of. Our room must have had one of the best views in La Paz. And we cannot thank them enough for the extremely kind gesture of surprising my husband with a birthday cake in the morning, with the wishes written in our native language. Chef must really be an artist to do that. Highly recommend this gem of a place.

Hôtel bien situado pero muy malo . Hay escaleras para ir de la calle a la recepción y luego más escaleras para bajar a los ascensores. Muy engorroso para una persona con maletas pesadas o para minusválidos. Decoración pasada de moda y vieja . Este hotel necesita una remodelación total . Personal amable , hacen lo que pueden , pero en general el hotel es una gran decepción.

On the first night I was in a 4 bed dorm and I was woken up at 4 am by the receptionist and a security guard. They got me out of bed and made me show my room key and guest card, as apparently in their system the room should be empty. Well, I was in the right room and I was taken out of bed without any need, apparently the receptionist registered me on room 307 and gave me the keys of 407. It was very unpleasant and I had a terrible sleep after that. I wonder why they couldn't wait until later to settle the matter. So I went to the reception to negotiate some kind of compensation for the unpleasant situation they had put me through, I suggested a complimentary breakfast (it costs about U$4.50). But they basically replied that they didn't care about the situation and that I could complain wherever I wanted. Selina is not a cheap hostel, so you're expected to at least be treated well, which was not the case. Before this happened, I would easily give it five stars, as it is comfortable, safe, clean. But the way they treated me wasn't fair, they treated me like I was doing something wrong, when in fact it was their mistake. Second night the private room smelled cigarette, I also let reception know but nothing was made. There were some dishes from a previous guest at the door and they stayed there until my check out. Both nights were very noisy. During check out I had to request the refund of the 35bs key deposit they charged me when checking in, but they said it wasn't registered on the system (again another ”system” mistake), so I had to insist I paid, very uncomfortable situation once more. It seems Selina La Paz needs to improve its management. The whole situation will definitely make me think twice about staying at another Selina.
