Oh wow! What a total charmer of a hotel. Stunning room in a superb setting, this place just oozes traditional character and style. I note some of the comments about customer service and, admittedly, it's quite an odd place in that respect. Reception was deserted when I arrived (at noon on a Saturday) and I had to go looking for someone to check me-in - and that was the last I saw of anyone until I checked-out. It's a shame the hotel doesn't have a communal area (maybe with an honesty bar) as it's such a beautiful building it which he would have been nice to linger. Having said that, this was my first time in Utrecht and, if I ever return, I'll be staying here again.

Starts off with nice spacious room. Coffee machine. All good so far. Then the shocker. The bathroom was made for a 7 year old. I forgot to take photos but I was shocked at the size of this ridiculous bathroom and shower stall. You couldn’t turn in the shower or the rest of the bathroom. You pretty much go in and then back out. But the torture wasn’t over. The “climate control” or air conditioning was not working at all. Zero. Nothing. Wouldn’t cool and wouldn’t heat either. The room was really hot. Had to open a windows and that wasn’t great as it was raining and there were noise from the street below when window was opened. With no reception there was nobody to ask for help. Another tiny point was that the hotel didn’t even have a vending machine to buy water or sodas from. We couldn’t find a store close by. But that was the least of our concerns. I’m really surprised that none of the other reviews mention any of this kind of problem.

nice food and beautiful environment. Vistors can rent bikes to go around. There is a small swimming pool and sauna to enjoy. Convenient location.

This hotel is in a fabulous location and backs right up to old town Utrecht. The staff don't seem overly friendly and in fact, I think we only received a smile 3 times in the week that we were there. The rooms are big, and the welcome note was appreciated, even if addressed to my husband who wasn't traveling with me and had nothing to do with this reservation! Breakfast is fantastic with a huge selection to satisfy every dietary requirement and while expensive, felt like a reasonable price for everything that was available. The grounds are beautiful and seeking shade one afternoon we tried to sit at a table under umbrellas outside the dining area. We were quickly moved away from that area by a very brusque member of staff and told to try in the garden area. The staff in the garden/bistro area subsequently told us we couldn't sit there if we weren't going to order anything. I think if the staff had felt more friendly, then I would have felt more inclined to give a higher rating. However, this doesn't detract from the fact that the hotel is very clean and well maintained, the rooms feel spacious and well-appointed although the bathrooms feel a little dated. There is a very small pool area and gym but we never got the chance to utilize either space. Proximity to the beautiful city of Utrecht really can't be beaten, and it did feel special to stay somewhere with such history and I left a little bit of my heart in Utrecht. Overall, I'd recommend this hotel and would absolutely return to stay at this fabulous location.

For 3 nights, my friend and I stayed here and loved it. The room service was pretty good. Customer service at the desk, the Concierge and the cafe were all impeccable. I liked that we had to show we were guests of the hotel after a certain hour, it made me feel that I was in a safe place.
