Llegamos por la tarde-noche desde Tam Coc. Una cosa buena que tienen los autobuses de línea en Cat Ba es que casi todos te dejarán y recogerán en la puerta de tu hotel (si es céntrico). El hotel es como los de la mayoría de la ciudad: tiene el ancho de una habitación y no brilla por lujo alguno. El nuestro de ”Palace” solo tenía el rótulo aunque los había más viejos. De entrada el ascensor olía a humedad una barbaridad y la habitación que nos dieron (3 camas, sin balcón, olor a rayos...) no se correspondía con la teóricamente lujosa ”Suite Nupcial” reservada. Nos cambiaron a la fachada principal y, aunque era igual que la de las fotos, menos mal que no debía ser escenario de un viaje de novios... pues estaba bastante gastada y era poco a nada atractiva (al menos ésta no olía a humedad). No era pequeña, pero tampoco grande. Tenía balcón a la calle (con una barandilla tan bajita que invitaba a no salir, so pena de suicidio de los teóricos novios) y vistas más o menos buenas al ser un piso alto. Cama grande, de duro colchón y sábanas aceptables. Muebles gastados, a.a. y tv satélite. Minibar con agua de cortesía. Baño pequeño, viejecito y con un curioso lavabo cuya encimera había sido recortada lo justo para poder sent**** (de lado) en el inodoro sin sufrir grandes daños. Ducha igualmente viejecita con ventana a un callejón, floja de presión y con toallas para cambiar. No llegamos a desayunar ninguno de los dos días, porque la sala era minúscula, poco atractiva y el bufet escaso y mal presentado (compramos unos batidos y unas galletas). Wifi bien. Entendemos que es un lugar altamente turístico con mucha demanda y eso se nota en la escasa calidad de los hoteles. A pesar de los comentarios positivos (?), seguramente buscaríamos otro hotel.
