GGuest UserVery good hostel, many friendly young people. Unfortunately I don't speak Chinese, and most guests couldn't speak English either, so I didn't really participate to the social life. I still had a good time, some of the staff spoke good English and I had a great time talking to them. One of them also lent me his road bike for the day (surely better than bikes from any shop) and I had a great time cycling around the Erhai lake. The free washing machines are also nice, and there are enough of them so you don't need to wait.
ZzhuxjlanceAn experience that exceeded my expectations!
Facilities: The room and bathroom were very spacious, with a separate wet and dry area. You can check the photos provided by the owner for details.
Environment: It's a private, independent property, directly opposite the bus station. You can see the mountain view just by opening the curtains – check out my photos taken on a rainy day.
Service: Huge thanks to the enthusiastic owner! We arrived at 9 PM on a rainy night, and they were still willing to provide us with a simple meal. The breakfast was also delicious.
GGuest UserI stayed for two nights here in a four bed women dormitory. It is simple and you have all the services that you need : a kitchen, a washing machine, little food shops at the building's entrance and it's not far from the railway station.
Also, hosts are wonderful !! They prepared a meal in the evening. We visited town together : they brought me to Kunming lake, street snacks, food market in the morning and a nice park. All that for free !! I highly recommend this homestay. Simple, not expensive and warm up. 😊🙌
GGuest UserTraveling solo in Kunming, my stay at Old Big Foot International Youth Hostel completely exceeded my expectations – it's truly an ideal haven for backpackers!
The location is absolutely unbeatable. Just a few steps out the door is Zhuanxin market, where I could get everything from tofu rice noodles and Dai-style snacks to fresh fruit in one go. It's also not far from the subway station, making it super easy to get to all the major attractions around the city. The hostel itself has a courtyard bursting with bougainvillea, and you'll find traveler messages and map check-in walls everywhere. The downstairs bar is perfect for sunbathing during the day, and for listening to music and chatting at night, sometimes with guests playing guitar – it's such a gentle and therapeutic atmosphere.
The accommodation details are incredibly thoughtful. Every bed has a full blackout curtain, creating a private little space when drawn. The bedding was clean and odorless, there was 24-hour hot water, and the cleaning staff tidied regularly, so the bathrooms were completely free of any smells. They provide lockable lockers and self-service washer and dryer machines, so no worries about valuables or laundry. The front desk staff were incredibly patient, offering detailed recommendations for local tours and free luggage storage. Their 24-hour presence made me, as a solo female traveler, feel completely safe.
It's really easy to meet like-minded travel companions here. There are plenty of activities like billiards, movie nights, and city walks, so you never have to worry about feeling lonely. The prices are affordable, the facilities are comprehensive, and the atmosphere is warm. It's perfect whether you're staying for a short visit or just passing through. I wholeheartedly recommend it to solo travelers who enjoy a lively, authentic vibe!

Very Good
GGuest UserThe bougainvillea in the courtyard is absolutely beautiful, and the environment is very comfortable. You can play billiards and table tennis here. The food in the restaurant is also delicious. It's quite close to Green Lake and the subway station, making it convenient for getting around.
NNatazaEnjoy my stay here. The bed is comfy. The bathroom is big and inside the room. The atmosphere of the hostel is nice. And it is near 大理古城. I can also store my luggage there when I checked out. Next time i will go back to Dali if I have chance, 洱海 really beautiful but it is a pity the weather when I stayed there is raining all the time.
HHAFIZ NOOR08The owner 老板娘 & 老板 is very accomodating - they will treat u like family. Great thing abt the hostel:-

GGuest UserI went for it for the price, but still some lacking things surprised me. The bed was hard, the walls in the room were mostly dirty and stained from both human use and mosquito splatters. There was rarely someone available for inquiries and the outside toilet was a big downside, since it was quite cold, especially at night. Having a kitchen to use was definitely a plus and the rooftop areas were pretty nice, although messy. I was sad to see all the animal they have spend the whole day caged or chained 😔
AAstrxdThe environment was very comfortable and relaxing. Beautiful view whwre you can see some of the sea of clouds. They give you disposable coverings for you to put on top of the fresh pillow bedding and mattress for extra hygiene which is a nice touch I haven't seen before. Bathroom is very clean, though there are only two toilets and two showers and two sinks, so do note that for busy season, but it wasn't an issue at all during my stay. They provided breakfast too, fresh milk the boss heated for me when I got up, and red sugar glutinous rice cakes wrapped in banana leaves (babas), and it was fun to get ready for the day with new friends on the balcony overlooking the village. I think the environment is very good for meeting new friends and other solo travelers- I arrived at the hostel randomly at the same time as three other girls, and we explored Manghong togetjer on the boss's recommendations for itinerary and sightseeing. And the next day the boss dropped us off at a tea roasting experience, and just as we were heading to Nuogan another girl from the hostel finished her tea roasting session, so we all went to Nuogan togetjer to play. The boss even helped load my luggage onto the shuttle bus so that it could pick me up at a sightseeing spot further down the mountain!
GGuest UserThey say people make or break your experience and this hostel is no exception. The 4 friends who own this hostel have been building an awesome, welcoming space, with cozy and interesting decorations, most of which have been painted and drawn by them and their friends. The rooftop is really nice and really large, and the area is a nice local area with lots of food around + Kunming railway station. There are also 4 beautiful dogs here; 3 large ******* mountain strays they have adopted, and one tiny little stray from the streets of Kunming. They are super playful and very well cared for here. The whole place feels like a fun young family !All in all, I highly recommend staying here if you are in Kunming, and the beds/bedding are clean too! +(Water pressure is excellent)
