Hotel Hot Springs di Iwate Prefecture, Japan

This was my second stay, and the autumn scenery is even more beautiful than in summer! The hotel's environment, service, and food are all excellent. We stayed two nights, and the dinners were different. The second night's dinner was so lavish, I couldn't finish it all even though I was stuffed. The breakfast buffet was also superb. The hotel staff are all very friendly and can help you call a taxi. The hotel has many hot springs, and the water quality is excellent. The only pity is that the semi-open-air hot spring now has glass windows installed, so you can't properly enjoy the autumn scenery outside, and it feels a bit stuffy. The mixed-gender bath has the most beautiful views, and from 8 PM to 9 PM, it's reserved for ladies. It would be perfect if they could also arrange an hour for ladies during the daytime, as the daytime scenery is even better, and ladies might feel more comfortable in a mixed-gender bath during those hours. I'll definitely stay at this hotel again if I get the chance.

Great location for hikers on the Michinoku Coastal Trail. We booked the stay with dinner and breakfast, and the dinner was an outstanding multi-course kaiseki style meal. The onsen is a great relief after a hard day of hiking too.

The pick-up bus at Shin Hanamaki Station at 3 o'clock was very punctual, and the driver did not take out the list to check, so I felt that there was no need to make an appointment. The time for the drop-off station does need to be reserved, and it will be checked when getting on the bus. The snow view outside the room window is beautiful, but there is nothing around the hotel. It feels like a remote hotel group that specializes in receiving ********* groups. A drugstore at the door is crowded with ********* guests at night. In the morning, the drugstore is not open after the ********* group leaves, so there is no place to go shopping. Dinner does have unlimited long-legged crabs and steaks, and the dishes are rich but the taste is very average. The hot spring is also quite satisfactory, with average water quality and scenery.

The hotel is almost perfect except that there is no bathtub in the room. The service struck me most is the courtesy of the staff. Everyone was so helpful and well-mannered.

The quality of the open-air bath here is quite good, we like it very much 💕 Although the hotel building feels old-fashioned, it is well maintained. The room we stayed in should have been built later and is a bit far away from the large bathing area. We can just enjoy the exhibitions of the hotel and artists. Paintings and beautiful scenery along the way 👍

Special mention The full name of the hotel is Yamanokami Onsen Villa Seiryukan (SeRyuKan) The reason for this is that Yamanokami Onsen has 3 hot spring facilities: The ordinary Japanese hot spring hotel Yamanokami Onsen YukaYin The daytime hot spring hotel Nagomi The last one is Villa Seiryukan Take the right exit from the west exit of Shin-Hanamaki Station on the Shinkansen Line. There will be a free hot spring shuttle bus, which will depart from Platform 2 at 15:10, 16:10 and 17:10 respectively. The driver will hold a sign and ask you which hotel you are going to. Just point to Seiryukan. At other times, you must take a taxi to the hotel, and the standard fare is less than 8,000 yen. The shuttle bus will take passengers to Yuxiangyuan, where they will wait for the staff to arrange for them to take a minivan to the Qingliu-kan lobby on the other side to complete the check-in procedures. When checking out, the free shuttle bus will arrive in front of Yuxiangyuan at 10:00 am or before. Guests need to check out from Qingliu-kan before 9:30 am and take a minivan to Yuxiangyuan to wait for the bus. The bus arrives at Shin-Hanamaki Station at around 10:45. Please be sure to pay attention to the Shinkansen and airport arrival times. For example, it is impossible to catch the 10:20 Shinkansen back to Tokyo, but the Shinkansen only stops at Shin-Hanamaki Station once an hour. The hotel's dining time starts at 6pm and breakfast starts at 7am. Whether dining at Qingliukan or Youxiangyuan, you need to make a reservation one day in advance with the help of Qingliukan staff, and they will inform you of the relevant fees. If you choose to stay overnight without breakfast or dinner, please be aware that among the three hot spring hotels, only the reception of Yukaen provides microwave fried rice and pasta, which costs 800 yen per serving. The hotel has a beautiful environment, close to another attraction, Yanmeixi, and the location is very good. The hotel's dinner, supper and breakfast are also delicious. The hotel's hot spring facilities are also appropriate, and frozen desserts are also arranged for passengers who have soaked in the hot springs. Massage chairs are also arranged next to the hot springs, which is very intimate. Only the receptionist did not inform the hot spring that there is no towel, passengers need to use the towel in the room to the hot spring.

I am a US traveler on business. I have visited Kashoen before and based on my experiences it is the only hotel I will ever stay at in Hanamaki. The hotel staff are the kindest, most caring, and passionate people I have met at a hotel. The amenities are fantastic, the hotel food is phenomenal, and my stay is always relaxing. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. There is a nice nature trail nearby with a river that is beautiful as well. If you are in Hanamaki or are looking for somewhere to enjoy a peaceful weekend at, I suggest Kashoen.

There are shuttle buses to and from Morioka Station, but you must make a reservation and the driver will call out your name. You can go to the official website first and pay attention to the event date. We came on weekdays, and some activities (cable car stargazing, family ski park) were not scheduled. It turned out that they were only available on Saturdays and Sundays. We stayed here on the first day of the ***** New Year, and there happened to be fireworks. Although it was only three minutes long, it was still very atmospheric.

The best ski in and ski out and Onsen hotel in Japan so far! We loved the hotel so much in Oct 2025 so we rebooked and came again from Dec 20-24, 2025. 1. Very convenient for ski experience. Ski in and ski out. Ski rental and ski coach school are just besides hotel. Good experience for rentals and coaches hiring. 2. Breakfast and dinner buffets are great and so yummy! The food does change every night to give you diversified variation to choose from. Very delicate food preparations by great chefs so don’t worry you will never get bored. 3. Onsen is also great great great! Great view and women and men get alternate the hot spring pool everyday. 4. First floor relaxing area is great great! You have self service bar of juice / soda / coffee and popsicles. 5. The hotel staffs are so nice and make you feel at home. Motoyo-San is extremely friendly and her English is so fluent!!! We were very lucky to have her help out during our stay. 6. 3rd floor is newly renovated so pls try this beautiful room next time! Highly recommend!!!! Great for family and couple trips!
