Altura Hotel

I cannot thank this hotel enough, it was my first holiday without my husband passing away and I was so nervous and my anxiety was up. But o have to do it and I chose this hotel and I cannot fault them at all. helpful staff outstanding team the food cleanliness and staff are fantastic. I also want to thank the entertainment team Joe, ruby, Rebecca and our bar man matao. And our wonderful receptionist Nancy thank you all so much for making me and my friend Suzanne so welcome. The hotel is not worthy of a TUi 3 star.. nor do the photographs on the TUi website show a true reflection of the accommodation. We can usually make the best of a bad situation; however, this was a stretch too far. The bathroom concrete? Tiny shower screen, which resulted in a flooded bathroom every time. There was a strong smell of urine, and the drain was blocked. We reported this on the 2nd day, but it was still the same on the last day. Swimming pools were also dirty. This was not just due to a storm. The cleanliness was questionable before - yellow/green water in both pools. There was also an unfortunate situation with a typical 'brit abroad' bully of a man who thought he ruled the hotel and made other clients feel uncomfortable. We have never felt uneasy on any holidays before and despite raising the issues, there was no resolution. We felt uncomfortable in this hotel, so we made the decision to stay in alternative accommodation at our own expense. The only positives were the lovely staff in the dining and bar areas who were friendly and hardworking, The quality of food was good with plenty of choices.

Amazing place, fantastic staff and superb food. Always clean and the rooms are comfortable and have a decent amount of space. Nice little walk to town and beach, there was also good air con in the rooms and a daily turndown service. The food was so good, great variety and lots of local dishes as well as the usual chips, pasta and soup. Overall we were so impressed!

I stayed at Altura in 2019 for a short stay and always wanted to return for a longer stay with family. Was a little worried having read previous reviews from earlier in the year but we loved our stay. Family x 7 - ages ranging from 11 to 74. Food - we thoroughly enjoyed the food, it was varied, hot and always found something different to eat. The ice cream was particularly nice. Rooms - I preferred the room I had back in 2019 but no complaints with the room I had this time. It was clean, adequate in size, comfy beds and amazing air con. Cleaners work hard but on three occasions she was knocking our door whilst we were still asleep to clean the room which was annoying. There was no ‘do not disturb’ sign to hang out! Pools - we spent time at both pools, it was very hot, late 30’s during our stay so the pools were bit on the warm side. All types of inflatables were allowed which is unusual these days! Sun beds - out of 10 days we only had issue getting beds on our first day. We didn’t queue or reserve beds and still managed to moved between pools as we pleased. They were comfy and had plenty of shade. Staff - all staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Maria the manager went out of her way to talk to guests and check that they were happy with everything. Entertainment - the team worked hard to keep guests entertained. Waterpolo after lunch was a favourite with the younger ones in my family, although it did get very competitive. Followed by a quiz at 3pm each day which my 74yr old father loved. Evening was mainly singing, Katie was the best. Big shout out to Joe, Matt and Becky too. Location - great location, only a very short walk to all the bars, shops and restaurants. The beach is a little further to go which was fine going but walking back wasn’t great. The steep part at the end, although only short, nearly did me in!! All in all, a very enjoyable stay at the Altura. I would return and recommend to others.

We stayed 2 adults and a teenager at the Altura for a week and had a great time. Like many having read a few negative reviews I booked the last minute holiday for £1300 a little apprehensively but there was no need to worry. The hotels food offering in the restaurant was great and we ate well every meal. We experienced no cold or undercooked food during our whole stay. The snack bar by the pool is basic and offers snack pots of pasta, fruit, sandwiches and ice cream. It’s also serves warm food like pizza and chicken baguettes in the afternoon. It’s great for a quick bite between meals and it meant our daughter ate well at lunch instead of eating just chips during the day. The hotel is also spotlessly clean everywhere and the staff are very cheerful and polite. Our room was on the top floor in the main hotel and we had no complaints, there was a fridge in the room and the aircon worked well meaning we always had a great nights sleep. Please note the hotel doesn’t provide toiletries so remember to bring shampoo, shower gel etc.. There is tea/coffee making facilities in the room. There is some entertainment throughout the day and all the reps are lovely. We had a lot of fun playing quizzes and games such as boules, darts, beach pong, volleyball and water polo. Inflatables are allowed in the pool and several were left pool side by others to enjoy. There is the main pool, adult pool and area up the top and a small children’s pool tucked away. We ventured out every evening so I cannot comment on the evening entertainment. The hotels location is great and the bars/ restaurants are a stones throw away and the beach around 10/15min walk. We didn’t struggle to get a sunbed, if you come out before 9am just make sure you stay with your towels on the loungers or in the pool as the reception team will move them. I found an early swim around 8am lovely and peaceful and then dried off on the loungers before breakfast but others coming out later managed to get beds easily too. Transfer time was short, around 20mins. The only negative I found with this hotel is the quality of the drinks, the fizz is unbranded and a little syrupy at times. I would definitely recommend this hotel and we would gladly return. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Can not fault this hotel at all, clean, nice food,friendly staff. Our room was cleaned every day with fresh bedding and towels. Food was different each day,with a range of foods for all tastes.desserts was to die for absolutely mouth watering. Drinks you have a good range and choices. We stayed 27th May till 6th June and we will be returning nxt year. The pool was clean and was cleaned every day. I would like to point out that the staff here work very hard to keep the place clean and maintained,working from 7am till the early hours. The only bad thing about this hotel is there's not enough sunbeds and you have to get up early to grab one,but we didn't sun worship around the pool 24/7 so really wasn't a issue for us.. me and my husband had a brilliant honeymoon and loved staying here. Look forward to returning next year. See you nxt year when we bring the rest of our family..
