What a great over night stay we had at the Crown hotel. We stayed as part of the autumn deal that Crown had on offer and it's really value for money. From the staff on reception, to the bar staff and waitress on the morning for breakfast, couldn't praise them enough. They were so friendly and helpful, especially Jimmy and his staff, he even very kindly gifted us his biscuits so we could have a cuppa tea following our evening out. Top service Jimmy thank you, the custard creams went down a treat. The rooms are lovely, comfy and clean and situated in perfect location. Highly recommend and we are returning customers as we've been previously too.

Amazing food , very friendly and welcoming , will defintely be back !!! , came with my mexican wife and daughter and was very surprised at the very high standard of Thai cuisine , Anna ( the chef and owner ) is a star !!! , she and her husband Mike run The Crown and I highly recommend a visit !!

My daughter and son in law just had their wedding this weekend and I can’t say enough about the crown hotel and the staff!!!! They were absolutely amazing, they made our daughter’s wedding the most beautiful special occasion imaginable!!! We are so pleased with everything they did and went out of their way for. Tony and the staff are highly recommended. The rooms are beautiful and they take the upmost care in providing special service for everyone!!!! Thank you guys so much!!!! You have made us all happy. We stayed at the Crown as part of a wedding close by, the hotel is average in most aspects. The room we were allocated, versus what we paid for was sub-standard. The saving grace was the comfy bed. The breakfast the following morning was extremely busy, and we waited almost 40 minutes for our breakfast to be served, although when it did finally arrive it was tasty enough. Great location though, with local eateries and plenty of other restaurants close by.

As a working photographer I get to visit umpteen venues every year with very varying experiences. In my 35 years of travel this is probably the only hotel I have visited where literally every single member of staff seemed absolutely determined to do their utmost for their guests and for the professionals at the event. Everything from a warm friendly professional welcome, to regularly being asked if I needed anything. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, and the venue was stunning, immaculate and beautifully presented. The food at the event was scrumptious - far and away above the standard at many wedding venues - even ones that I know have charged double or triple the price. This just goes to prove how an independent business, where everyone feels part of a close-knit team, can truly knock the socks off a chain where they may be just another number on the payroll. Well done everyone and thank you for all your support and help.

What a fantastic venue. We held an 80th birthday party here and it was perfect in every way. From the size and space of the room and garden, to the fantastic staff. We couldn’t have been looked after any better, Tori was always quick to respond to any queries and on the day itself the team were outstanding, as was the food. Cannot recommend enough 😄

We had our wedding here and it was perfect! Throughout the whole process, all the staff were amazing. The team really took all the stress out of it and everything ran so smoothly. The quality of food served for the wedding breakfast was first class. There was loads of food for the evening BBQ and I’m pretty sure we didn’t manage to finish it all, or the midnight bacon butties!! Parking is a bit of a pain but it is what it is. There is free on street car parking nearby and you can use apps for the hotel car park or the market street parking areas so it’s straightforward. Thanks again to the whole team, especially Tony, Tori and Lyndsey.

Breakfast outside - 2nd August The full English is very sparse and overpriced the very necessary extras are again overpriced. A total cost of £ 42.50 for two including coffees a limitless over the top plus no cash accepted and had to pay in advance not to be repeated.
