Hotel berhampiran JR Kamegawa Station, Beppu

The room with the onsen was convenient and offered a great experience. It was spacious enough for three adults with large suitcases, and the futon was very comfortable. Dinner was excellent as well. A wonderful place to stay! The staff was amazing, reaching out a week before our check-in to ask about our group and dinner preferences. We were so happy with our stay. Thank you, Sanso Kannawaen, for taking such great care of us!

Overall, I felt the hotel was very nicely done with great local touches while still keeping an international atmosphere. I also wanted to point out the great flexibility of the hotel, allowing me to change my meal reservations from 3 dinners at Elements (I was on a package deal) to one at Elements and combining the remaining two meals at Elements to a dinner at Atelier. This allowed me to not have to dine at the same restaurant as well as opening up a slot for me to explore a local restaurant. However, there were two things that I'd like to point out that the hotel can improve upon. The first is the staffing at the club lounge (and in general) is not enough. There were many moments where I was left to wait, to the point where using standard facilities (like the check-in counter, or breakfast at Elements) would have been a more positive experience. Breakfast on 12/21 was where the understaffing really showed, where it took over an hour to complete breakfast; many guests left in the middle of their meal since service was horribly slow. However, the second point us what I would really want the hotel to work on - CoVID countermeasures. Largely, two things I'd like to point out. (1) Temperature screening us inconsistent. I was checked when I first arrived, but never anytime afterwards (or should I say, the thermometer station was unmanned). (2) During my meal at Atelier, my wife and I noticed that the staff (He was Italian, I think his name is Marco?) preparing the dishes (in the open kitchen) prepping a sauce, tasting it with the same spoon which was quickly rinsed it under the faucet and returned into the mixing bowl. I pointed this out to one of the servers (Japanese male, responsible for serving and explaining the dishes). This is where I felt the hotel can improve on - in detail, three things. (i) The Japanese server proceeded to quietly scold the staff in front of me, I felt that was not a great experience both for myself and the staff. (ii) Nothing was cleared. After the scolding (and then the staff responding back that he did not put the spoon back in) none of the utensils were changed and no follow up. I guess there is no trust in what a customer points out. And finally (iii) I felt that this is at the fault of the hotel for not putting in proper operation guidelines.A person putting together a meal will need to taste it, to make sure it's good. If the hotel were to put in operational guidelines to ensure tasting can be done while still making it very obvious that it is hygienic, I would not have to be writing this email. Needless to say, our dinner experience was ruined that night. I actually shared the above comment with IHG Guest Relations (on 25 Dec), which the agent was extremely prompt on getting back to me and assured that I would get a response back from the hotel about it within 48 hours. Excellent service, food, view, room - oh, what could I complain about? Everything felt amazing from the moment I entered the hotel. The hotel had a no-shoe policy, and they maintained it sparkly clean. The outdoor onsen was an infinite-pool onsen that was facing the ocean, which was mesmerizing. The breakfast buffet spread catered to my every-so-picky taste buds, and the restaurant was overlooking the sunrise. Other aspects of my stay that I greatly valued was the good quality of skincare products given and the incredible service. If I had to make one complaint, that would be the slight inconvenience of getting to-and-fro the hotel by bus on public holiday (taxi to the JR station is still affordable - about 850¥). If you drive, it would be amazing.

My wife booked this hotel for us for our weekend in Beppu. We selected this hotel based on the price, parking, and location. It is within walking distance to the train station and down town area. They have parking here which is a plus. The staff was very friendly, the individual helping us spoke great English which made check in/out easy. They have breakfast here, because of COVID, it was not buffet style, but the trays were nice and the food was great. The rooms were perfect, they were modern, spacious, and had everything we needed, plus the bed was comfortable. Overall, we had a great stay here.

Travel with a group of friends to Beppu but only 4 of us decided to stay at Amanek for 2 nights. This was the best decision ever as we were closed to the JR station, eateries, Tokiwa shopping mall, Donki and the beach were within walking distance. Only few staff could speak English. Those who speak Japanese only also try their best to serve the guest. I am impressed by how clean and new the whole hotel is. Best of all, I love the free flow of juices & beverages. You could also do take away in the UCC coffee disposible cup. Love the choice of either western or local breakfast with free flow of side dishes. I am surprised by how big the bedroom is and spacious bathroom. The gym equipment tho basic, are new & in good condition. The onsen is clean & modern & I love the warm rooftop pool with an awesome view! Amanek is thoughtful to provide guest with a basket to hold all your onsen needs. Upon check out, I was overcharged for my 2 days of breakfast. The staff was quick to rectify the problem & refunded me on the spot. Yes, would definitely stay in Amanek again in my next visit to Beppu! Thank you for the awesome stay!

Really enjoyed this unique hotel that has a mix of art, onsen, great views and decent food. The room (419) was not luxurious but was well designed, the balcony overlooked the extraordinary landscape that is Beppu, the greatest feature was the semi open-air onsen bath facilitated by the floor to ceiling windows, connected to the generous deck space. It was fun to walk around the gallery space and admire the interesting architecture, color palettes, and exhibits championing Beppu culture, landscape, flora, fauna etc. Sitting in the Peak restaurant for dinner, I was amused that one of the waitstaff was a robot that ferried food and empty dishes back and forth. Dinner was laid-back, had a window side seat that allowed me to enjoy the city glitter below. My stay here was at a fraction of another Beppu hotel on this trip, in many ways I enjoyed this place more and would not hesitate to come back.

這是一間絕佳的溫泉渡假酒店，非常推薦。 迷人而且廣闊別府灣的景色盡收眼簾，令人陶醉！日式原木設計和現代朝流感同時呈現，令人喜出望外的溫泉酒店！ 房間乾淨，整齊，空間寬敞舒適，陽台望出去的景色一流，現在是冬天，如果是春夏秋，相信更加勝人一籌！半露天私人溫泉非常舒服，令人放鬆，路途上的辛勞泡完全消失了！ 所有工作人員都非常友善，（包括餐廳的工作人員），專業。今天氣溫只有1度，我們到達酒店時，已經有職員冒着寒風正在門外等候，見到他親切的笑容，立即覺得很溫暖，好像有種回家的感覺，他主動幫我們拿行李，而且送上房間。在大堂觀看酒店設施影片介紹時，他們附上甜品小食，非常貼心；在餐廳每個細節都很用心，服務周到，我們用完餐離開的時候，工作人員鞠躬至我們身影不見了，這樣的傳統敬業文化，真是令人敬佩！ 酒店在半山，我們沒有自駕，在JR出站口右手邊就有計程車，十分鍾左右路程，非常方便。 感謝酒店所有工作人員的熱情招待，如果下次再來，我們還會選擇入住。

The room was spacious, clean, and well-equipped, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my visit. I especially appreciated the convenient downtown location and the high-quality on-site facilities. Overall, the BHONP offered great value and exceeded my expectations, and I would happily stay here again on my next trip to the area.

奮発して露天風呂付客室にしました。8階と比較的高層階でしたので、眺望は良かったです。ただ、露天風呂の壁は高いので、露天風呂に浸かりながら景色を楽しむことはできませんでした。 夕食は大分県の食材や食文化を反映したメニューでした。オーダーするドリンクは、消費税やサービス料が含まれた価格表示で、居酒屋と変わらないくらいの値段設定でした。 展望足湯や手湯、夜には夜市やジャグリングバンドによる演奏が開催など、まるでテーマパークのような宿でした。

For those driving, please note that there are limited parking lots behind the hotel building. If it's full, you'll need to park at the multi-story car park beside the hotel, which doesn't come with a lift. Several convenience stores are located nearby the hotel. Overall, the check-in experience was smooth. However, the wait for the lift is quite lengthy, as there are only three lifts serving all customers. It took me 10 minutes to go down during peak hours.
