Hotel berhampiran Art House Tacheles, Berlin

The hotel is located within walking distance of most of the main attractions in the city centre so made a great base for our four day city break. All the local transport networks if walking is not your thing are right on the doorstep as well. There is an entrance to the underground railway just outside the main entrance, tram stops immediately outside and a bit further down the road is one of the main overground railway stations so getting around is really easy from this hotel. When we arrived and checked in the reception area is dimly lit, calming, welcoming, clean and the staff are willing to help you by answering your questions and even provide you with a useful city map listing numerous places to visit during your stay. The room we stayed in (111) is what you would expect if you were on a few days city break type holiday and didn't want the whole five star treatment. We didn't want or need lavish surrounding with masses of open space between the bed and seating area. After all we would only be sleeping there as the rest of the time we would be out exploring Berlin! The decor is modern and clean with a full length mirror on one wall giving the illusion the room is bigger. Being on a busy main road we thought we would hear a lot of noise coming from outside. We didn't! The room is quiet, well sound proofed and only occasionally would we hear a siren going past. Other than that we heard nothing unless we had the window open. Another thing we liked was the fact that when the curtains were closed the room was pitch black. the blackout curtains really did their job unlike a lot of places we have stayed were the room during the summer months is bright by 5am. Well done with that! The bathroom is a decent size along with a shower that gives the the option of two shower heads. (No bath in this room.) Some bathrooms can come across as cramped but this was a decent size and well lit. Talking about 'well lit' if I had to have one thing I didn't like about the room it was the fact that it had five lights/bulbs but they were all quite dim and even when they were all on it was hard to read anything as it was to dark. For those of us that have to wear glasses it made it a lot harder. I get that they may be going for the orange glow warmth effect but it wasn't for us. Some may disagree and that's fine. The aircon works well and is silent to the point I thought it wasn't on sometimes but it proved me wrong and kept the room nice and cool all the time. There are numerous restaurants in the immediate area of the hotel including their own. There appeared to be a lot of asian style eateries such as Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai just outside. If that's not something you want and you fancy putting your own food box together walk out of the hotel entrance, turn left, walk about 150 metres and you will see an escalator leading down into a supermarket called REWE. The prices are a lot cheaper than most of the small shops you walk past. For example a

This period hotel is located over 2 buildings that are opposite each other. The reception staff were friendly, quick and efficient in both check in and check out. Our room was located in the building opposite reception, so just a short walk across a quiet street. The room was a fair size, clean, neat and tidy. The shower was a little small, but decent, clean and big enough for me (6'1”). There was no tea/coffee making equipment in the room, but that could be because we were room only. We didn't eat in the restaurant at all., so can't comment on the food quality. The hotel is located in a quiet side street, but close enough for a short walk to Berlin Mitte. We were not disturbed with any street noise at all (Room on 2nd floor) during evenings or nights. There are several good restaurants, and several little coffee shops/ breakfast places all within 100 metres of the hotel. It's easy to get to from the airport. Either take the FEX train to Berlin hbf and then a 12/15 min walk to the hotel, or take the RB23 or RE8 to Fredrichstrasse hbf and its a 3 min walk. Both take about 30-40 mins and cost 4 euro per person each way. We bought an ABC Zones travel card, which we think (and hope) was correct! Be aware that the FEX is hourly, so you'll have to time your journey. Highly Recommended.

My brother’s first ever hostel stay and he was fine. Checkin was via a box outside, we never saw a person working there the whole time! Room was good, twin room, really comfy beds. Showers were only one temp with a press button start which ran for about 20 seconds a time! Sure to have a quick shower! Location was great, underground stop right out the front, 2 stops from a central station. Natural History museum just around the corner. No social aspect and seeing no staff meant we couldn’t leave our bags on our last day.

Great hostel, located 10 minutes away from Alexanderplatz and with another station right outside the entrance. Nice staff, very clean and comfortable room and bathrooms, there’s also a bar downstairs and you get a discount if you show the room card.

Really enjoyable hostel experience. Every thing is quite good and the staff is really nice, making you feel like being welcomed. They have 24 hours service desk so it is really good for those have very early／night flights.

It’s a really nice location and great service. However, better be aware with the strangers inside the room as my room experienced a guy who came in without a card and the next day some of our roommate lost their thing. Besides, it’s still a great hostel, I met lots of great friends there, especially if you are alone, it’s a really great opportunity to hangout with others.

This hotel was a great value. It’s in a fairly quiet neighborhood about five minutes walk to the nearest metro and only four stops from Alexanderplatz on U8 and one stop from the train to get to the airport. There were many nice small kebab shops and coffeehouses nearby. Staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean and spacious. I would certainly stay here again.

The hotel is very well located next to a metro station and in front of it there is a bus, M85 that takes you to the main train station. The Turkish place next door offers amazing fresh kebabs. The city tour bus is just 20 min walk or couple of stations ride. The room was clean, the breakfast was having good varieties. The only missing part was the air conditioner, but the weather was good and we could sleep the night without it.

Very nice aparthotelhotel. On some days the price is somewhat expensive though compared to other places nearby. And they don't accept cash.

The front desk staff was very accommodating in getting me into my room quite early after an overnight flight. Rooms leave much to be desired. Beds are very tiny - what a toddler would sleep on. Beds are very, very firm. Room and bathroom weren't very clean. I had my 'do not disturb' sign on my door and received a knock from housekeeping. Repeatedly. When I went to the door, thinking the sign must have fallen off, the housekeeper pushed past me, handed me my 'do not disturb' sign and insisted I replace it with the 'clean my room' sign. It is a 20-30 minute drive to city center. The area is questionable for walking around on your own as a female traveler.
