Hotel Otaru dengan Sarapan

We booked the best room on the top floor and spent 7 nights at this high end and extremely expensive ryokan/hotel. Here are the pros and cons: PROS: The food is amazing in terms of presentation, gastronomy and service. The place is immaculately clean. The views a fantastic! We got comfortable Yukatas and overall the place has a very nice traditional vibe.  CONS: They seem to be completely inapt in hosting people who don’t speak Japanese. No one speaks English at this place. None at all! They write that we can “press 9 and call the reception”, but once you do it – you can’t have any conversation with anyone at all. Even when you get down in person to the reception, no one can really communicate with you, even with Google Translate.  They exhibit zero flexibility. The approach is – it’s our way or the highway. All is extremely polite, but no left, no right! Can we have a laundry service arranged? The answer is “no!”. Can we communicate with you via WhatsApp or email? – No! Can we come later to breakfast? No. Can we have dinner at a later time, since we can’t come earlier just this one day? No! Basically, if you want to sleep a bit later during your vacation – forget it! Either show up at 8 or 8:30 am for breakfast, or go hungry! Can we buy your Yukata? – No! Also, we were asked to indicate every day what time we intend to go out – something that adds pressure, as  on vacation one may want to improvise, rather than plan ahead their outings.  Given that this place charges exuberant prices, the lack of the most basic hospitality features (communication, laundry, customer-focused flexibility) is astounding! We now staying at another Ryokan, 90 minutes away and see that everyone can speak some English and the place is much more focused on the needs of a foreign traveler, as opposed on preserving the holy rigidity of an existent system. 

2026.3.21 絕美的海邊小酒店，小樽站還要再坐20min左右到鹽谷海岸，附近是真沒什麼餐廳，所以提前聯繫酒店的時候強烈推薦我預訂他們家特色的日式法餐，基礎價格是8800日元一個人，想着來都來了，所以點了多了兩道前菜的頂格套餐14300日元。又加了兩杯葡萄酒，一杯北海道產的葡萄，一杯美國產的葡萄，2000日元出頭。餐廳配着絕美海景真的情緒價值拉滿。 當天傍晚風浪真的超級大也超級冷，天氣有點陰，房間帶一個小露台，可以推開門坐着看海。面積還挺大，有沙發，枕頭是一半軟枕一半蕎麥，所以最後衹攤開睡了一半硬枕，床墊軟硬適中，對老腰很友好。 生日月提前聯繫後給了用心寫的一張生日卡片，超級感動的一次行程。

Hotel is good, however there were lots of insects at the outdoor hot spring. The meals were a bit disappointed.

I had a great stay at this hotel. The room was spacious and included two bottles of water, coffee, and tea. While the view overlooked a blank space behind the building, the quality of the bed and pillows was excellent. I found the bathroom to be slightly larger than expected. The reception area was spacious, and the staff were friendly and spoke English, which made communication easy. There were two breakfast options available: Western and Japanese. I personally chose the Japanese breakfast, priced at 3,000 Yen. The quality and portion were good. The hotel is conveniently located within a 10-minute walk from Otaru JR Station, as well as Sakaimachi Hondori Street and Otaru Canal. Additionally, there is a convenience store directly across the street, along with several night restaurants. I did find the price a bit high, possibly due to the Otaru Snow Light Path Festival taking place during my stay. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for its comfort and location.

It was a cute boutique hotel with nice bonus facilities! Room is nicely designed and functional, with warm colors feel homey and comfy. Too bad we didn’t get the bath tub room as they were fully booked. Views from the window is mountaneous area, very nice! Bed and pillows are comfortable. Surface area for stuff are generous and practical, even enough space for sofa. Too bad they don’t give free coffee or at least instant coffee, only tea. No onsen. Music box night was awesome! Feels like a romantic dinner setting, but the smell of lamp oil was too much, gave me headache so I couldn’t stay for long, even though I would love to support the hotels and all of the polite and friendly staff by dining there. Staff are wonderful, smiles and polite and professional! During this trip we felt like Japanese staff in general are becoming a bit cold toward tourists but this hotel’s staff are not like that! We appreciate you guys. Thank you!

Kakitangan di kaunter penerimaan tetamu fasih berbahasa Inggeris, itu bagus. Sth dramatik berlaku selepas saya mendaftar masuk. Entah bagaimana beg pakaian saya tidak boleh dibuka, walaupun saya tahu nombor kuncinya. Jadi saya terpaksa menelefon penerimaan untuk mendapatkan bantuan, nasib baik mereka mempunyai alat untuk membuka beg pakaian, tetapi saya diberitahu untuk menunggu kerana orang lain menggunakannya dan saya sepatutnya dipanggil selepas penerimaan alat itu. Menunggu sepanjang malam, tanpa panggilan telefon, dan terpaksa keluar keesokan paginya dengan beg pakaian saya yang rosak. Jadi jika anda mendapati beg pakaian anda tidak boleh dibuka, pergi cari penerimaan dengan segera atau anda mungkin tidak berpeluang untuk menggunakan alat itu, haha

It's an interesting experience as the hotel is situated at the outskirts. The onsen in the room is perfect, with a perfect seat view. Room is pretty old school and big. As the location is pretty remote, there isn't much night activity around. It is pretty kind of the hotel to offer shuttle service to Otaru JR.

Saya memilih hotel ini kerana saya merancang untuk pergi ke resort ski. Walaupun berbanding dengan tempat yang lebih murah berhampiran Stesen Otaru, ia adalah tawaran yang bagus dengan tempat letak kereta percuma dan mandian terbuka. Kemudahannya juga bersih. Kopi dan teh boleh didapati secara percuma di lobi berserta kemudahan seperti lobi. Perkara yang menarik ialah ia mempunyai teh hijau panggang! Dari segi kemudahan, agak menyusahkan kerana ketuhar gelombang mikro hanya berada di tingkat tiga, dan tempat mandi terbuka yang luas dan selesa, tetapi saya suka mandi sejuk tetapi mereka tidak mempunyai satu, jadi saya berikan 4 senyuman. Sungguh mengagumkan bahawa kakitangannya sangat ramah dan mesra. Saya akan menggunakannya lagi lain kali.

Very convenient location if you are into skii/snowboarding. It’s quite centralized to majority of the slopes and only 30mins drive to Otaru town. Only downside there is no food nearby by the hotel itself has 2 restaurant. The Japanese one was superb, good food with reasonable price, sadly only open few days a week.

กูเกิ้ลแมพพาไปคนละเส้นทาง เป็นทางที่ไม่สามารถทะลุไปได้ ไม่มีพนักงานคอยช่วยเหลือเรื่องการขนย้ายกระเป๋าตอนขึ้นลงรถในช่วยที่หิมะตกหนัก หากมีกระเป๋าใบใหญ่ค่อนข้างจะลำบาก ทางเข้า รร.เคลียร์หิมะให้แค่เล็กน้อยทำให้ลากกระเป๋าลำบาก แต่ห้องใหญ่ กว้างมาก วิวดี
