Habíamos cogido un alojamiento de una habitación con cama grande y una litera para tres que íbamos y nuestra sorpresa fue que nos dieron una mucho mejor y más grande con dos habitaciones , una con cama de matrimonio y la otra con cuatro literas, sala , baño, aseo por el mismo precio. Yo creo que fue porque no teníamos wifi por las inundaciones que había habido, pero todo un detalle por su parte. Las instalaciones muy bien. Hay pistas para jugar a tenis y ellos te proporcionan el material. Hay zonas comunes donde puedes hacer una comida con muchas personas equipada con frigoríficos, mesas y bancos , fregaderas e incluso tostadora y hervidor de agua, además de máquina de bebidas. Tiene un parque precioso para los niños y una piscina con buenas hamacas. En la zona donde se encuentran las lavadoras y secadoras han puesto un tenderete grande para colgar la ropa, ya que está prohibido que se cuelgue en los tenderetes plegables que hay en cada alojamiento. El personal muy amable y servicial. La impresión general muy buena, de hecho volveríamos seguro si viviéramos aquí, pero en todo caso lo recomendamos.

The amenities available across the property were incredible - including 2 pools, BBQ, Outdoor Kitchen/Pool house, extremely generous cereal, breakfast and fruit options, gorgeous products in the bathrooms, and hairbryers, straighteners and curlers in the bathrooms. The entire experience from booking through to check out was incredibly easy. Brenda and the other staff were all lovely and so welcoming and accommodating. We would definitely stay again. Thank you!

Booked the Wollongbar motel based on the location, price and good reviews. A quick easy two minute walk into town. Also, with private beach access through a gate at the back of the property, you can walk across the train tracks, down the path to Belongil beach and up to Main beach. While located on busy Shirley St, I didn’t notice any traffic noise, just the sounds of the ocean. We stayed in a Double Balcony room, upstairs towards the back of the building. The room was very spacious, comfortable and clean. It is an older style motel but has been updated and while basic has everything you need (fan, aircon). The room felt a little dark due to the aspect and older style security windows but you could open the balcony door to let in light and air (the navy blue accents contributed to the darker feel). If styled with sandy creams or earthy tones, the room would feel a little lighter and more Byron, and flow better with the cream and white exterior. Same with the pool, a few simple updates, with a coat of white paint, a couple of new lounge chairs and some pot plants or landscaping would really lift the pool area. The pool was lovely and warm, we had a swim everyday day after the beach. Overall our stay was quiet and relaxing, being located close to but just outside the busy town. We were talking to someone who has been coming to Byron for the last 16 years and always stays at the Wollongbar, doesn’t even look elsewhere. The ‘affordable for Byron’ price is a step up from a private room in a hostel. We didn’t have a car and while a bus stop was located right out front of the motel, we never saw a bus go by. Byron isn’t well set up for public transport, so it’s harder to get around town without a car, we did a lot of walking. I just wish they had adult and kids bikes available at the motel! Most bike rental places were closed after COVID. The Byron Bus interchange is less than a 10 minute walk, we caught the public bus direct to Ballina airport on the way home about an hour’s trip (cash only $4.50 Adult / $2.20 Child). The reception staff were lovely and helpful. While the room was not serviced during our stay you could get fresh towels and toiletries from reception. And there was an on-site laundry $3 wash $3 dry.

While this hostel may not be for everyone, my friends and I really enjoyed our time here. It's not flash, but very relaxed. Very social hostel, made lifelong friends here and we feel very fortunate. We stayed in the 6 Share Teepee. Also, the coffee is really good. I can't wait to come back and stay longer!

My partner and I had a short visit to Byron Bay and we stayed in the “Dragonfly’s rest” room at the Garden Burees. You enter by driving up a little pebble road and at this point already feel like you’ve entered into a secluded jungle. To get to our room we walked up another pebble path surrounded by lush greenery. We saw wild turkeys and a few lizards and water dragons. The entrance to the room was a double door of beautifully carved wood. Going through that door led us to an outdoor space featuring a stone bathtub, shower, sink, toilet, fishpond with waterfall and couch. This outdoor area was so nice for hanging out and relaxing and we couldn’t miss taking a romantic bath under the stars later that night (during which we got to watch some kind of lizard or gecko hunting bugs!). The indoor section of the accommodation had a bed, basic toiletries, candles, a living room area with a couch and table, a tv, refrigerator, microwave, kettle, silk robes, and board games. It was such a relaxing getaway that we almost just stayed in and didn’t even go into town. However, we pulled ourselves out of the zen to visit Byron. It was only a ten minute walk into the town. Overall our stay here was very peaceful and relaxing and we really loved having a private outdoor space to use and how immersed in nature this accommodation was!
