Kimpton Aysla Mallorca, an IHG Hotel

Calvia|2.59km dari Nikki Beach Mallorca
We simply cannot say enough good things about this Kimpton property. From the staff to the accommodations, the food & beverage options to the landscaping & spa, everything was fantastic. A last minute choice, we are so glad we made the trip and hope to return soon! First Impression: From the moment we were brought to the front of the property, we knew we had made a good choice. The property, its parking lot, edifice, & landscaping, was in immaculately kept condition. The entrance is humble with only some orange trees, shrubbery, vines, and some small understated branding. Getting There from the airport: This hotel is located in an isolated, quiet residential neighborhood, nearly a half of an hour from the more active city of Palma, & it offers a wonderful serenity. Coming in the off tourist season as we did made it even quieter. For those who might wish to explore the island, beyond the resort, parking for the rental car you will want is inexpensive overnight. Staff Experience: 5/5. Excellent. The staff was truly wonderful, and we couldn’t have asked for better hosts. All guest-facing employees we met were stellar. The team’s collective vibe really felt just right. Fancy enough, informal enough, real. Alina made us feel genuinely welcome. We loved seeing the enthusiasm Aitara showed for the brand. Miguel, history scholar, was very social & made us feel quite comfortable. Laura, the front office manager, was very kind, as she aided us with modifying our airport transportation and check out. Special thanks to Carolina S., who not only answered our usual guest questions but also took time to show some room types & explain a great deal about the property. Our stay would truly not have been the same without her. We thank all these any others who may have contributed to making our experience what it was. We felt the #kimptonlove Accommodations: 5/5. Excellent. We were assigned a “King Premium” room type, (1304), and we were very happy. Our IHG Preferences of a room on a high floor that is away from the elevator were accommodated. We slept in a King bed, watched television from the sofa (where a third person could reasonably sleep), and snacked on an amenity at the small dinette table provided in the room. It had a balcony for lounging with a nice view and the fully stocked minibar offered many drink options. The bathroom included a rain shower w/ separate tub & direct bathroom access to the balcony. Design elements were chosen from the locality and create a stylish & modern, yet relaxed feel. Other accommodation options were available. We learned to book the Presidential Suite if one would like the private hot tub on your balcony and your own olive tree for martinis. Essential or classic rooms are perfect for the restaurant, bar, pool, gym, or spa-dweller, but the view may not be optimal from your room. Families may prefer a couple of essential rooms, since some of those do have connecting doors. If hammocks are your thing, corner rooms with pri

Cons: The breakfast hot buffet was not at all hot any of the mornings during our stay. We reported this to one of the waitresses who proceeded to go and dip her finger into the beans. If this wasn’t bad enough, we then never received any feedback and seemingly nothing was done as the hot buffet remained cold for the rest of our holiday. Further to this, the cakes were located in the outside part of the buffet, which every day, were covered in flies. These should be kept inside. Also, the churros were rock solid and inedible. The hand shower hose clip had broken so kept sliding down. We were unable to use this without holding it which was difficult when not wanting to wash hair daily. The pool bar was closed meaning the only available place to get lunch at the hotel was in the expensive a la crate restaurant. This was all big main meals (steak, salmon) with no place to get a lighter lunch. Wi-Fi did not reach up to our room (3rd floor). Coffee and tea is provided in the room however there is no milk cartons. We had to ask reception 3 times before any were bought up to our room. When they did, we only received 4 tiny pots. The sink plug did not work so we were unable to fill the sink. The shop next to reception was not open. There was no explanation at check in with regards to the 2 adjacent Melia hotels and what facilities we were able to use. It turns out access to the gym, indoor pool etc in both hotels is allowed for all guests. It appeared not many people were aware of the third pool to the side of the hotel as there was no signage. There were no information displays anywhere in the hotel for activities, entertainment etc. everything was via QR code. Pros: Good range of breakfast options. Hotel and room were clean and tidy. Staff were approachable and polite. Great location and sea view. Shame the Melia rooms only have a Juliette balcony. Easy to access rooms and buy drinks using the wristbands provided.

My partner and I decided to book a baby moon joint birthday all inclusive holiday for 7 nights to this hotel. A holiday where we wanted to just relax and enjoy the last holiday we have as a 2. We checked in with no issues, and early which was a bonus. Upon arriving to our allocated room I found that my partner had paid for the room to be decorated with rose petals fresh from the florist, balloons, a chocolate cake and a hand written note. This was lovely to walk into and a great surprise, my partner was able to sort this through the manager Borga who was ever so helpful. We found there to be a couple minor issues with the room, one being the door handle to balcony being broken and the other was the shower was broken, both were swiftly fixed the same day after reporting. However, I would like to add that the hotel charged my partner €30 for the cake alone in our room, which was delicious and one of the best cakes we’ve ever tasted, but for us to find out it was included in the all inclusive buffet daily was a bit annoying. Unsure if this is just my opinion but I don’t know how the hotel can justify the €30 charge for the cake alone when we have already paid for all inclusive! By all means charge for the cost to decorate with balloons rose petals etc but the charge for the cake seemed unfair, especially at €30! The beds were the worst I’ve ever slept on, was like sleeping on concrete, we attempted to sleep on the sofa bed to see if any better but that was even worse! The shower never stayed the same temperature, it goes from the perfect temperature to scolding hot or ice cold within seconds and without even touching anything! The air con was also not working, which is a BIG reason we had such a poor stay, upon asking the receptionist why, he advised the hotel just haven’t turned it on yet! The hotel advertised air con so the air con should be on! Who wants to be in a room without aircon in 25°c+ heat!! We tried to manage without it but we couldn’t bare it therefore returned to reception and were given the option to rent a fan at the price of €16 and €10 deposit! The fan was broken and useless as just circulated the hot air. I will add that breakfast was lovely, but very busy, the queues each morning for pancakes and omelettes were crazy, and it completely made the buffet area inaccessible due to the queues, it was very unorganised and people seemed to always push themselves in front, was every man for themselves! The adult pool area was nice, constant activities going on and very comfortable sunbeds (until they changed them on the last day), the music was always good and sun was on the pool area all day! The pools however were the coldest I’ve ever been in, every person we saw go in squealed as they went in, and lots of kids cried as they entered. The lunch and tea was nice, nice dishes with chicken, beef, turkey or pork always an option. Just a bit repetitive so we ended up having food elsewhere towards the end of the holiday. 4 star rating overall from me. There are imperfections, but I wouldn't read too much in to some of the recent very negative reviews. Located at the far end of Magaluf, towards Cala Vinyes, but within 10 minutes or so walk of the ”bright lights” of the ***** if wanted. I caught public bus A11 from the airport which takes around 40 minutes and drops less than a 10 minute walk away - all for the princely sum of 6.75 euros (that becomes cheaper if you tap on and off using a contactless card - but mine wouldn't work). A taxi is c. 50 euros. The beach is only a couple of minutes walk away out of the front door, albeit the slope / steps are quite steep and, not untypically for Spain, it appears the last couple of steps were never properly finished so have to be exited sidewards. We were a group of middle aged lads, occupying three rooms, one in block 2 (above reception) and two in block 1. The rooms varied but were all clean and tidy, TVs had a choice of UK channels, and (large refillable type) shampoo and shower gel were provided. My mini fridge was fully stocked (water, beer and soft drinks), but the other two rooms weren't (maybe because I'm a Hyatt club member and booked directly?). My safety deposit box needed a new battery that I had to follow up on day 2 for it to be fixed (they wanted me to be present to fix it). This hotel, that I suspect was born from amalgamation of 2 or maybe even 3 hotels, tries to be all things to all people - with clients ranging from young families with children, through couples, groups and the retired. It is large, with multiple pools, and a choice of food and drink venues were available (noting recent reviews about a slow start to the season, low occupancy and limited choice etc). Late afternoon check in was smooth and efficient for me, but I appreciate if bus loads arrive at the same time it could be lengthy. We were all inclusive and food and drink was generally good, albeit as others have noted, you need to keep an eye on things being fully cooked - we had to waste some under cooked chicken. Labelling was also an issue with some missing and others confused - baked beans labelled as ”small black pudding” being an example. See sample menus from Tapas and Burger ”Market Street” venues. We were able to use these ”specialities” at leisure, but I suspect they might be limited or need to be pre-booked in high season. There are some anomalies about what drinks are included - some cocktails are and others aren't. For example, Mojito is extra? The entertainment during our stay was mixed. The (newly arrived) team work hard, but things weren't perfect - the promised music quiz on our last night wasn't delivered for example. That said, the live singers weren't bad. We had a Beatles tribute band, and 90s retro live singers. The pools aren't heated, but were fine once you got in - the weather being mid 20's and sunny when I was there (9th to 13th May). Be aware pool towels need a 10 euro deposit, that can only be reclai
