Mistico San Blas Boutique

We had a fabulous 3 night stay in the Místico San Blas Boutique Hotel. All of the staff (Leslie, Laura, Marjorie and Mari) were super friendly, attentive and accommodating. When we first arrived my wife was really struggling with the altitude and Leslie sprung into action (completely unprompted) bringing coca leaf tea, and some type of rose oil to her right away, saving the day. Leslie went above and beyond in assisting us ! The location of the hotel is hard to beat, right in the heart of the historic San Blas neighborhood. We ate breakfast at the hotel, made to order by Mari and it was delicious!! We would highly recommend anyone staying in Cusco, to stay at the Místico San Blas Boutique Hotel !
Atoq San Blas Hotel

What stands out about our stay is the overall value. The price was crazy fair for what we got. A friend and I booked the triple room which was on the top floor and had three beds, which was great to spread out our hiking gear on / repack etc. Breakfast was amazing, the tall gentleman who cooks was super friendly and sweet. Eggs cooked to order, fantastic coffee, fruit and juice! Front desk service was good but nothing over the top. We did purchase a bottle of wine from their selection and it was spoiled (we are both in the wine and liquor industry) but when we told the front desk staff they did nothing about it. That was a bit odd. If you've never visited Cusco, beware of the super loud firework boom sounds starting about 7 am and throughout the day. Its a call to mass or to celebrate and the first time we heard it we freaked out!!
Samay Wasi Youth Hostel

The Samay Wasi was the best part of Cusco for us. We were scheduled to stay in other hostels as well, but dropped all of them in favor of staying at the Samay Wasi. We were there for seven nights. The view for one thing is unmatched in Cusco. The breakfasts are excellent. Price rooms are quiet and have nice showers with hot water. Bed mattresses are actually comfortable. Wifi is better than most hostels. The people working there are very friendly and helpful. The best of the hosts is James. He spent a lot of time in the US and speaks perfect English and Spanish. If your lucky, he will be the one picking you up at the airport. He is the man to talk to when it comes to tours and local things to do. He will take care of everything as far as that is concerned. Very calm, patient, and attentive. He will keep you on schedule through What’s App. My brother and his wife will be traveling to Cusco later this year and they will also stay at the Samay Wasi and rely on James as we did. HIGHLY recommend.
Illa Hotel

We travel quite a bit; I hate giving bad reviews, but feel some people may find our story helpful. Illa was one of 5 hotels we book for our trip to Peru and the only one we cannot recommend. We stayed 4 nights and originally, considered another hotel closer to Plaza de Armas or another, cheaper room at Illa. Since we were arriving to Cusco after several days of long and strenuous hikes and it was our wedding anniversary trip, we decided to go with Illa and instead of the cheaper room, splurge on their most expensive suite with Jacuzzi, which was about $40/night more that the other room. Unfortunately, we did NOT get what we paid for. PROS: Staff were very nice and helpful, there was a person that stayed onsite overnight, and they packed our breakfast to go the day we left early for the Palcoyo hike. CONS: Hotel is overpriced for the type of accommodation you get; the quality is just not there. The street in front of hotel was dug up which made it difficult for taxis to get there, breakfast was the worst we had in Peru, management doesn’t take responsibility when things don’t work and becomes unresponsive. Our room did not have heating, hotel supplied 2 space heaters as requested, which was nice, but they did not heat up the large room and bathroom enough anyway. The robes in the bathroom were worn out and grey, same with towels, plus they had a logo from another hotel. Our first impression of Hotel Illa was positive. They left a bottle of wine for our anniversary in the room, which was a nice touch. Unfortunately, it went downhill from there. Since our train was delayed and we had a dinner reservation, we dropped off our bags and ran to the restaurant. We returned after 11:00 p.m. and noticed that everything in the room was quite dusty—even inside all drawers. It was late, so we just cleaned the room ourselves, so we could unpack. We tried to run the Jacuzzi and dark mold-like chunks of stuff were coming into the water (see photographs), so we could not use it the first night. It doesn’t look as bad in the pictures, because the camera captured only the bigger chunks. Next day, someone came to clean and fix the Jacuzzi and we were told it was fixed. We had the same issue on day 2. We reported the problem again and everything repeated. Third day, there was someone else at the reception desk, who did not know about the issue. The person at the reception told us to use the room next door to take a shower (???? not sure why, we had a problem with a Jacuzzi and the other room didn’t have one). We were told the receptionist would talk to the owner about a partial refund, since the jacuzzi did not work. The day of our departure, we talked to the same woman and she said again she was going to follow up with the owner. (According the the research we did on the issue, it typically happens when jacuzzi is not used for a long time. During our multiple discussions with the front desk, it became clear that the room is not used very often, which explained bot
Hotel & Mirador Los Apus by DOT Tradition

The staff at the hotel were outstanding. Every staff member greeted us upon every encounter and were all very welcoming; this is how all customer service staff should behave, but is harder to find in today’s world. The hotel is quaint and authentic. Everything was comfortable and very clean. The morning breakfast was very good with eggs made-to-order, pastries, fruits, and yogurt. The property is located on a side, dead-end street, so it is quieter than most areas. Despite this, it is only a few blocks walking to the main square. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, etc. all within a few minutes walking. If we come back to Cusco, this is without a doubt, where we will stay. This may have been our best stay in our two weeks in Peru.
Auka Boutique San Blas

SEMPLICE
