Oak Ray Ella Gap Hotel

Great experience here. Beautiful pool and excellent location. Restaurant also great, really helpful with allergies too (peanut allergy). Theja was very helpful with this! Definitely recommend to stay here if you’re visiting Ella!!!!!

A nice excperience in the centre of Ella, chef Chamille thoughts a lot about the food and Sri Lankan culture. The food was fresh and clean. You have to help with the meal but they will help you prepare it. We saw some old Sri Lankan cooking gear wich were new to us

Overall Ella Gap hotel is a great hotel with a great location. Thank you Vijaya, for keeping the rooms clean and tidy, and going the extra mile of making towel crabs on our single beds! We would come back to stay here. Many options for breakfast.

I recently stayed at the Ella Gap Hotel and had an exceptional experience. The location is perfect, offering stunning views of the surrounding hills and lush greenery. The rooms were clean, spacious, and tastefully decorated. The staff was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. The on-site restaurant served delicious meals with a variety of options. Overall, Ella Gap Hotel is a fantastic place to stay for anyone visiting the area. Highly recommended!

Vijaya made our stay so special she left a towel elephant and some beautiful flowers on our bed! Thank you to the Ella Gap Hotel for their amazing and friendly hospitality! Would highly recommend this stay as a great spot in Ella! Vijaya is the best at the whole place!

The hotel itself is pretty basic, but it is close to the main street of restaurants, which gave us a bit of autonomy from our driver. Also, there was a pool, which I found cold but the kids didn’t mind and it provided them with some down time to recuperate from the overwhelm of travelling in a new and different place. I’ll give a specific shout out to the receptionist, a young man called Ujith, as he was really helpful when I was trying to source a safe tuk tuk driver to take us around for the day. Our usual driver refused to be of any help, telling us that some tuk tuk drivers steal your wallet and he could not be responsible for recommending one. But, I wasn’t asking for anyone to be responsible, I was just asking for local knowledge (someone he knew or who had been spoken of highly by other guests) to give us the best chance of a safe and pleasant experience. Anyway, I gave up asking our usual driver and asked Ujith instead, and it was like chalk and cheese. Whereas our usual driver had been so unhelpful, Ujith got out his phone, called someone he knew to be a safe and reliable tuk tuk driver and the driver came straight away. And - just as Ujith had indicated - the tuk tuk driver was excellent. So, thank you Ujith. It is people like you, who are helpful, that make all the difference for an enjoyable holiday experience (especially with kids, which is challenging, and means helpful people are truly a godsend).
