Motel One Essen

Great small room, very clean, very well maintained, bar staff stunning. Check in, no room ready after waiting 3 hours to check in. Staff at check in very aggressive. No kettle in room or ability to get morning drinks unless you pay for simple and expensive breakfast.

The checkin was easy. We were confused about the parking situation. We had to go inside and find out where to park. It would have been nice to know ahead of time. The staff was very helpful and did everything they could to make our stay better. The Chris**as markets were across the street from the hotel which made it nice for visiting day or night. Dining choices were abundant within easy walking of the hotel.

As the title already shows it was the first time in this Motel One (and first time at this chain even). Service at the reception was good. Check-in went smooth. The hotel has retrofitted part of the building. Part is maintained in the original style (for example the huge stairs). All together the hotel is well maintained and all amenities are present. Rooms are well organized. All amenities are present. Beds are good. Point of improvement; provide wider sheets and covers. If you give a 1 person sheet for 2 px bed then you run into an issue. Internet is of good quality as might be expected. Breakfast is served at the restaurant area. Enough space is present but it can get crowded in the morning. Wide range of choices and all together a good breakfast. The bar has a great range of gin options which is definately worth the kudos. Had some great tastings! Excellent experience in this Motel One.

Only missing was a coffee/tea machine in the room.

Loved our stay in this hotel. The social space is large and yet cosy - not an easy thing to pull off. It's colourful, with lots of daylight and a range of seats to relax in. We did so for drinks in the evenings and for coffee in the afternoons. Very chilled. The staff are super friendly, smiling and welcoming. And that felt genuine as opposed to that's how they needed to be or they'd be getting in trouble. It's slap bang in the middle of Essen and so easy for Chris**as markets - in fact the markets are right outside their doors. Breakfasts are delicious. All organic, great choice for vegetarians (we are).

Been coming here for 10 years since it's location is perfect for our needs. I liked the simplicity and decoration of the lobby and dining room better before it's renovation. the decor is too busy now. This time, we had a renovated room. I missed the closet that was there before, it has even less storage space now. just 2 tiny shelves that can't even fit a pair of shoes. The bathroom smelled like somebody had been smoking in there, and there was contact lens in the bed that was not from my family

The whole establishment is nothing short of misleading. You walk into the lobby and bar/lounge area and think: wow, that’s gonna be a great experience. Unfortunately, as soon as you checked in and you walk through the glass door separating the lobby and the elevators, you realize that you got bamboozled. The Motel One Essen utilizes a much older building, which really looks old, cold, and — we cannot stretch this enough — looks NOTHING like the lobby/bar area. The beds were the most uncomfortable we have ever slept on. No joke, and we travel a lot. It’s literally a wooden box with a mattress on it. On the level of an average hostel we stayed in 20 years ago. The room itself can only be described as “absolute basic”. No phone to call reception. No nightstands. Curtains block light inadequately. Other reviews also say that the walls are paper thin, but we did not have the “pleasure” to experience that. The service was sub-par even for German standards. Cold front-desk, not well trained. For the rate we paid (about 85 EUR a night) I have zero doubt that I could have had a better stay elsewhere. Only good takeaways: — Rooms were very clean — We booked a room with a balcony which was nice — The bar staff was quite nice — Location is top notch Would not recommend and won’t stay here again.

Sehr gut und schön, zentral gelegen. Motel One eben. Gute Anbindung an den Nahverkehr. Bahnhof in 5 Minuten erreichbar. Frühstück ist top. Preis und Leistung passt 😃 Wir waren hier zum Fußball ⚽ in Dor**und. Anfahrt insgesamt 40 Minuten, aber in Dor**und kostet ein Hotel Zimmer den 3 fachen Preis.
