"I have known the Hugenpoet since childhood and never thought I would be able to praise the price-performance ratio there, but I can do so for the bistro in the coach house, and gladly. An appealing dinner including wine for under €150 is possible and you can fully enjoy the atmosphere of the property (not at the Laurushaus back then). Only the well-trained gourmet or those who want/need to impress their companions should go to the 1831. Special greetings to the people of Hösel: It doesn't always have to be Düsseldorf and anyone who brakes too late coming out of the serpentine not only ignores the right of way but also inevitably thunders into the driveway to the Hugenpoet. The white wine that was initially served at room temperature was annoying and the service offered everything from an older Frenchman with the finest manners to a lady who, when asked if I would like a cognac, reacted very cheekily to my counter-question as to whether this was intended as an invitation: Original quote: "If I want a cognac, I don't care who pays for it". However, I have already reported this to the hotel itself in the hope that it will be discussed internally. In any case, please don't be afraid to contact them, the Hugenpoet is an experience and you can spend 500 euros for 2, even without any effort. But you don't have to. Stephan Platzek"

"This hotel/apartment building has seen better days. The tap in the small kitchen leaks, the walls are boarded up and covered in dirty fingerprints, and there are unplastered holes in the walls. The receptionist (the only friendly staff member I encountered) didn't mention the limited cleaning service. The air conditioning is terrible, either too hot or too cold. Breakfast has an extremely limited selection. I really can't recommend this place."
