Fihalhohi Maldives

Fihalholi|0.05km dari pusat bandar
This is an amazing privately owned island, which is a gem of a find. If you want calmness, relaxation and great service, then this is the place to go. This is our second visit and would happily come back again. The island has lovey, clean rooms and does not have crazy numbers of people, so at meal times, the beaches are deserted. The island offers some great snorkel trips but i would advise you to be strong swimmers (the sea can be rough and many of the trips are in very deep water, as you jump into the sea from a boat). The views around the island are breathtaking and the food is awesome (they also cater for vegan/lactose intolerance and gluten intolerance) vegetarian food was a little sp****, but we ate vegan at lot of the time, which we still lovely but can get a little boring due to limited options, especially when you see all the other delights on offer, but are not vegetarian (including cakes etc) The service was outstanding, the staff could not do any more for us. There was a wide range of visitors from all sorts of countries (a large proportion of German/Russian people) the library was more geared towards German, which suggests the larger number of visitors were probably from there. We stuck to our Amazon Kindles, so didn’t need the library anyway. There were also options to hire boats, jet skis and snorkels if you needed them, plus the possibility of gaining a full PADI diving license for anyone who wanted to do it (all had extra costs). There was a little shop on the island, but it is expensive for essentials (such as snorkels or suntan lotion) because it all has to be imported in, which is understandable. Therefore, make sure you take whatever items you need with you. If you want to experience the Maldives without the commercial craziness or the major corporation chain aspect, this is a great island to visit.

Adaaran Club Rannalhi - All Inclusive

Rannaalhi|3.11km dari Fihalholi
The island and room were clean , the resort was overall fine, the reef was beautiful and we generally enjoyed our stay, after all it’s the Maldives and a bucket list tick. Why 3 stars? Well we really found the all male staff (other than the spa ladies who I believe were from Bali or Thailand or the like) really unfriendly . The bar staff simply didn’t smile or engage in conversation at all. Ever. We felt like we were imposing. The wait staff were ridiculous, we were absolutely not allowed to change our allocated seating which was in a hot elevated area. We refused to sit there given there were multiple empty tables elsewhere that were more suitable and closer to our friends. Well what a drama that was and totally unacceptable at that. In the end I had to tell the aggressive waiter to not speak to me and go away. Attention management, whatever your reasoning it was a hot topic amongst a large group of us and not in line with a quality resort. Our room was fine, the cupboard drawers were hard to open but that was nothing compared to the sewer issue. Out toilet water was brown and the bathroom Stank for the first 2 days until after 3 requests was fixed. On the last day our boat left at 6pm so We requested a late check out. We were told the resort was full the next day and it was not possible as were our friends . Turns out that was a lie . We did get a late check out after I reminded management that we had a sewer issue . Amazingly our friends who also had the sewer issue also got a late check as compensation. We were then required to sign a waiver . We enjoyed our stay but to be clear, the staff were careless and really seemed like they wanted to be somewhere else . Exception was the spa girls, the room cleaning boys and the gardeners who all had happy smiles and a friendly wave . Also we had an overwater bungalow and the steps to the water were not maintained, they were covered in a lot of algae making them incredibly dangerous , the steps had a paint finish too which was so slippery . Day trippers , whilst expected, had drones that were invasive to our bungalow and not controlled when reported to management . I feel there are much better options in the Maldives.
